DemonGSides
I don't know anyone who pays for New Recruit. It's a list building app for most people I know who use it. The command bunker is good for the organization. situation. I don't think it requires a subscription. That said I should probably donate for how much I use it. Half that would be about the max. You can do a game in two hours if you know your rules and don’t need to rebuild a livingroom or dig in the attic for terrain. Or have a sit-down meal. If you count from the time you get in the car and drive to venue it’s going to be a long game :p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388277-40k-july-update/page/5/#findComment-6181306 Share on other sites

I've found most people that have this problem don't really practice the game a lot or memorize important rules. I know there's a good chunk of rules, but you only use a portion of them. I agree as someone who doesn’t practice the game. I don’t want to practice the game; I want to play the game. I memorized the 10th ed rules for my first game and by the time I got my second game in, the rules had changed. I’ve been going through a lot of stuff since June and knew I wouldn’t be getting a game in until at least September so I didn’t bother memorizing the rules because they’d change before then. Knowing what your units do helps a lot, knowing how you score in your disposition helps even more. You can influence this mental load tremendously in your list building stage. Play smaller games, 2k points isn’t mandatory. Use fewer units and weapon types Build for an easy disposition, not powerful or niche rules. In sum, just make it easy on yourself. Good advice; however it’s not the codex rules or unit rules that are the problem. I already do a lot of what you recommend. The problem is the core rules. In 10th I bought 4 codexes; Space Marines, Blood Angels, Death Guard, and Imperial Guard. I have Tyranids and Custodes otherwise but play them so sparingly it wasn't worth grabbing the books. I"m not sure it was a worthwhile purchase, but I lean on GW's app more than the others. I'll use New Recruit to build a list while I'm sitting in discord chatting, but game-day lists are usually finalized on the GW App due to the Command Bunker. There's no reason to waste money on books, just so I can unlock features on an App. I'd rather spend that money on an army. GW has created an environment which breeds two very different play experiences. You'd have a point if it weren't fornthe fact there were people doing the same exact thing you do in previous editions and they would sometimes get rules wildly wrong. Constantly changing rules (however constant) aren't actually the problem here. ThaneOfTas
10 hours ago, Rowland said: Do you guys using alternative apps buy the codices? The only 10th ed Codex that I bought was the LE Blood Angels supplement, and I only got that one because it was extremely cheap from a box splitter on Marketplace that I was already getting the new Lemartes off of. I do intend to pick up a second hand copy of the 10th Custodes codex at some point too, simply for the fluff, but I'm willing to wait until they've gotten their 11th version first. Generally the 10th Codex's had so little of value in them vis a vis fluff content that it just didnt seem worth the money, especially when combined with the rules as printed rarely being completely accurate by the time we got the book in our hands. From what little that we have seen of the 11th Codexs with the Ork one being shown off, I'm slightly more interested as there seems to have been an increase in the volume of fluff in it, although only time will tell for sure. phandaal, Rhavien and kabaakaba 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388277-40k-july-update/page/5/#findComment-6181579 Share on other sites
