kabaakaba
In light of the new edition and the reduction (for now) in the number of books, the idea arose to assemble a gang or two. But I have a question regarding the possibilities of character development and customization. What do you do in this case? Paint the new model with the new weapon? Or make it magnetic? And what about the armor? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388300-gang-members-and-upgrades/ Share on other sites
Castigator
I've never been a fan of magnetising Necromunda models because they get significantly more 'fingering' than 40k models I wouldn't worry too much about armour unless it's something substantial like Carapace. Every group I know just declares whether a particular ganger has Mesh, Flak and/or an Armoured Undersuit and shows their card. The new edition may very well reduce the armour types for all we know. I'm in a slightly similar position to you. I had just built an Inquisitorial Warband using the Venator rules but they're now on hold because I have no idea what the new rules will be like. Personally, I'd wait for a couple of weeks but if you're itching to get in started, I'd just build some basic gangers with a standard weapon load out like Lasgun or Autogun (depending on your gang obviously) and paint them up. Solution Irongert Posted August 1 Solution Share Posted August 1 (edited) With regards to the armor, as Castigator said, normally the model is the model and it has whatever armor is stated on the card. I've never had anyone make a fuss about mesh or an armoured undersuit not being modelled. As for the weapons, I also don't magnetise. It's too fidly with those models for me. I just have models painted up and then build and paint a new model if the weapons change. It feels a bit overkill maybe at first but we play more campaigns than one and most people use the same gangs. The lasgun model that just got replaced with a melta gun model will come in usefull again when the next campaign rolls round. If you replace the lasgun with a melta gun on the same model you might find yourself reversing that conversion next campaign. I found that after about two gang boxes worth of models you'll have the load outs you use most pretty much covered and the models rotate in and out of the gang depending on how far you are in the campaign. Your mileage may vary ofcourse, especially is you play in never ending campaigns. But most groups I know don't do that because it completely breaks the fun of game at a certain point.
