Hi all.

We are 6 weeks into 11th edition now and seem to be in a bit of a lull as far as rumours / scheduled releases go. Let the discussion and speculation begin!!

Orks: we know there is a Mek / warboss / boys / trukk kit on the way. Speculation and rumours have suggested a large release to include lootas, burnas, nobs (pics seen) and presumably separate releases for the wartrak, weirdboy and walker.

Space marines. Should be next out of the gate after Orks, hopefully around September / October time.  Nothing confirmed as far as I recall save for the UM named character and the outriders. Likely to make an appearance: MP vanguard / intercessors. Plus the land speeder kit. I think there have been rumours around a MP captain as well.

Tau: rumoured to be one of the pre-Xmas codexes and with a focus on battle suits according to chapter master Valrak.

Custodes: another one rumoured by CMV pre-Xmas that will be a very interesting release given the plastic 30k refresh and dual branding.

I am starting to feel some pangs of dread for Lootas and/or Burnas. We'll see when the Codex hits (or before, with previews), but I'm getting the feeling that they might've been entirely rotated out to make room for new things.

It does seem odd to be several weeks in and yet the codexs haven't even started to drop yet.

I seem to recall this is normal from past releases. New edition drops in June and people spend the summer building and playing it. Then new codices start to drop in September.

I checked back and the preorder for Tyranids (first 10th codex) went up on 2nd September for mid September release. So yes indeed we are quite a way out yet compared to that. It does feel a bit like there’s precious little hype and info coming from whc though. Bearing in mind with preorder windows and Christmas battleforces / shutdown there’s only just over 3 months to put out (probably / at least) 4 codexes, only 2 of which we even know the faction for.

Nothing is happening, because this is basically exactly the same as how GW did things in the last couple of editions.

9th Edition: Launch Box released 25th July, Starter Sets released 7th August, First Codexes (SM and Necrons) released October
10th Edition: Launch Box released 24th June, Starter Sets released 22nd July, First Codexes (SM and Tyranids) released September
11th Edition: Launch Box released 20th June, Starter Sets released 11th July

Obviously there's some variation in dates (9th edition launched later, but the starters came out sooner as a result for example), but generally speaking, Launch Box comes first, then Starter Sets come out 2-4 weeks later and then the first Codexes come out about 6 weeks after that. Theoretically that might mean we see the first 11th Edition Codexes in about 2 weeks time.

I feel like it's perhaps because they've 'dripped' the reveals out this time around. If I'm remembering right, 9th edition onwards they've made a big song and dance about revealing the models that would be coming post-launch with dedicated reveal streams. This time though, we've had them appearing across the Mondays, a few leaks (Warboss and Bikers) annnnd then silence.

With that said, given we still haven't seen Warbikes in full yet and they teased the Ork Codex would be 'very soon' I'd be surprised if we're not due a stream soon which should inject a healthy dosage of hype back in - particularly because Marines are always popular.

Just to clear this up, I said I heard rumours that the first four codexes were Marines, Orks, Tau and Custodes, I only theorised that they would have those four out by the end of the year, mate.

Maybe they go by the started box models. Intercessors we know, or speculate more of. Land Speeder got update which basically is superior primaris version to original with all three variants in put in one basically. Assault squad is out, Vanguard is next propably, Captain, oh my captain we now have 4 to choose from, per armor type.

Phobos = one kit, no options, armed with MC  instigator bolt carbine

Tacticus = one dual kit, making either MC-stalker bolt rifle with pointing arm or MC Bolt rifle and powersword.
Two jump pack variants (for some reason) one with chainsword, relic blade, or power fist, alongside a heavy bolt pistol, hand flamer, or plasma pistol.
Second is choice of, Chainsword or thunder hammer + storm shield.
These could be put in similar box to previous Space Marine captain.

Gravis = Two kits. First with no options, armed with power sword and MC- heavy bolt rifle. Second with more options. Relic Chainsword, Relic Power sword or Powerfist. Along with built in Aggressor BoltStorm gauntlet. (could´ve added Flamestorm gauntlet option)

Terminator = one kit. Armed with relic sword or powerfist and Storm bolter/Combibolter ( flamer, melta, plasma)

What more would primarinades need at this point? Devastators? Nope, got those now aswell, just spread around in three/five different squads

Everyone on bike (the current Chaplain is bordering on acceptable due to ease of swapping in the chapter pauldron).

Everyone but the Captain with Jump Pack (same point about the Armageddon Chaplain).

Everyone but the Captain, Chaplain, and Ancient in Terminator armor (ditto above for the Leviathan Librarian ).

Shrike-pattern sneaky jump dudes (fine, let the new Vanguard Vets wear Tacticus. But give Shrike someone to hang with. He's not THAT much of a loner).

Grav-Rifle squad.

Multipart Suppressors with decent Lemartes-style poses and an alternate weapon option.

Flyers flown by non-wee marines.

Multipart Infernus fellows (maybe sharing a kit with the Grav-Rifle dudes).

Proper Gravis close support squad for chapters that aren't drowning in Indomitus armor and would really like an option for the 99% of the time when an Inceptor orbital drop-in isn't feasible and doesn't include a proper melee loadout anyway.

Everyone but the Captain in Gravis armor (don't even think about it, Leviathan Apothecary).

Plastic Astraeus.

Overlord.

The monkey's paw curls.

Inceptor Captain, Inceptor Lieutenant, Inceptor Librarian and Inceptor Chaplain all coming to LSM's wave 2 halfway through the edition.

...And a new well-made Land Raider kit.

what´s this issue i keep people whining about land raider? Sure it ain´t most friendly kit, but it ain´t as "difficult" as some said about previous drop pod.

Land raider doors opening gimmick could be reinforced and top plate might sometimes need some heating to sit flush, but i haven´t had issues with them. Nuilt 10 of them overall

Brutal. You're more likely to see new versions of classic Marines in plastic than most of the stuff you listed. Can we pump the breaks on what vanilla Space Marines need? How about some love of the Grey Knights? I've been waiting for ages now.

The HH Land Raider is soooo much easier to put together. Plus the last 40k LR I bought came pre-warped.
