Adeptekon
Quote @LSM said The Chicxulub Impactor hit in what is now Mexico, and we know the Old Ones (via their Lizardmen WHFB descendants) loved that Mayan style... It's all coming together! A search for lizardmen litterally turned up nothing. Is this true on a 30 year old forum? What are the running theories of where the Lizardmen went? Because we all know they were there. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388354-what-really-happened-66-million-years-ago/ Share on other sites
Lathe Biosas
I always assumed that the Exodites stole all the dinosaurs from Earth to ride around on. Then one of their enemies dropped a rock on the planet to stop their dinosaur riding shenanigans. Adeptekon
I think the whole beginning saga is unsatisfying. Why would the Slann create Aeldari? That's like asking us to create lizardmen. No one would want to create a potiential nemesis. In fact, are the slann even mentioned in 40k lore, at least the modern bits? The Old Ones created the Slann and lizardmen in WHFB but that was never true of 40k. Feels like that talk may have been born from the old, now discredited idea, that WHFB and 40k shared a timeline. I never understood why people say "discredited." The idea that they were a shared universe came from Rick Priestly, the guy who created Warhammer. Adeptekon
We have a long way to go before we get to Mayans so not sure how that works out. Considering that is from the same source that said all space marines were brainwashed convicts and that primarchs were just slightly better marines, I think its safe to say a lot of that book has been retconned. Also the more indepth war in heaven history we've gotten since 3rd edition Necrons dropped. Oh and Age of Sigmar happening with a fully fledged fifth chaos god now in the horned rat, I think it's safe to say GW have cut the cords tying the franchises together. For the best really. 1 hour ago, Adeptekon said: I thought the Slann and the OG's were interchangeable, but that's why we're here to correct the records. So what happened 66 million years ago? Could be wildly misremembering but I think Master of Mankind mentions something but it has been a while since I read it. On the subject though, i always headcannoned the old Dark Future game to be a prequel to 40k because of some of the blurbs to the books (which I'll point out I never read as they had long disappeared off shelves by the time I got into the hobby proper). Here's a fun thought about it, maybe because of warp shenanigans, an imperial ship crashed into Terra Adeptekon 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388354-what-really-happened-66-million-years-ago/#findComment-6182063 Share on other sites

I think the Primarchs in general are overrated, it could be propaganda since most people haven't seen one. I was thinking more along the lines of GW official stance on the matter which is "the primarchs are large and in charge (because they make us a shed load of money every time we drop one). Here is all these books that revolve around them in some way." Of course headcannon will vary from person to person. Myself aligns closely with GWs word for somethings, but not on other things (Terminus Decree? Why no, GW haven't revealed what that is! They certainly didn't reveal it to be something lackluster and silly!) Necron lore is one thing I keep thinking about as I did really like the pre 5th edition stuff. So I keep trying to come up with a way to reconcile the difference. Adeptekon
Yeah I would hate to spoil anyone's fun with GW's -for the moment- official stances. I'm a selectivist for sure. It suggests on page 61 that players could use a Lizardman army in 40k in a battle against the Necrons - with a bit of work done to resolve any differences between the two rulesets.
