I miss the kroc's big head and weird mouth and eyes. They had a certain je ne sais quoi. Happy that they're plastic now though, but I must say it saddens me slightly that the two are identical, as opposed to the Escher cats. Yeah one of them has a broken vial on its back, but that's not much. Just an alternate head would've gone a long way. But even if it is, when has lore ever gotten in the way of models? Actually I remember in the Old lore Goliaths explictly hated women, but I can see why GW moved away from that. Lathe Biosas
Nifty models. I really want a crocodile, but I have no army to wedge it into. Anyone know what size base it's on? Captain Idaho
Lots of crocs in the Goliaths, cats in the Escher... makes me think we'll see an extension of Cyber Mastiffs for Orlocks and probably an extension on an animal for each of the main gangs now. What animals scream Cawdor, Van Saar and Delaque? Cawdor could be a whole bunch of animals, but as long as its wearing a mask I don't mind which. Edit, I think the have rats now . Van saar are tougher to call. Timberley
Yeah, Van Saar have techno-arachnids, leaning heavily into the Necromunda spider motif. I'm hoping we'll see their new Archeotek and Prospect on grav-cutter soon! I wonder if they'll also redo the Augmek and give us more spiders. As to the news - they're decent sculpts, but I'm not sure about the crocs. Also, notice how they talked about fighting in Goliath specific territory (i.e. effects) - I hope this doesn't mean we're going to have to collect all of the books to understand different territories... Why do we now have space marines with darker skin tones even though the setting is a dystopia? Same reason, the representation is for the people in the real world. In any case, apparently now you're not longer concerned about equality, but when they were adding women to Goliath then you cried about things not being equal. Typical. Though granted there's nothing stopping anyone painting their Space Marines (or any model) any skin colour they want. 6 minutes ago, Crimson Longinus said: In any case, apparently now you're not longer concerned about equality, but when they were adding women to Goliath then you cried about things not being equal. Typical. I wasn't "crying" about "equality". Equality's got nothing to do with it. I was pointing out the weird double-standard that all-male factions are apparently a problem but all-female factions are A-OK for some reason. Has nothing to do with personal views on "representation" or whatever; it's just weird. The irony is I'm planning on dipping my toe into Necromunda with an Escher gang anyway. Joe
I really like these dudes - the weird cyber-arm I can absolutely see using on a World Eater as a sort of combi-flamer of some nature (shouldn't be too hard to modify the barrel and such), and the sumpkrocs are perfect for my Cults & Militia. Definitely looking forward to the other gangs now. Roll on Orlock with more cyber-mastiffs, and Cawdor with Great Dane-sized rats? Evil Eye
I tell you what would be nice (and this may exist already so my apologies if so!) is an option for a "lesser/non-house" gang list, representing "your dudes" minor houses, non-gang warbands or rabbles of assorted scum and dregs. You'd have more flexible options available to you at the expense of having generally slightly inferior quality fighters and lacking access to some of the special toys the major houses can take. Would be interesting for a campaign with a gang/house trying to climb the ladders of power, or even for running a game set on a hive world other than Necromunda... We have a deck of 'Critter' cards that we draw from if our Priority roll comes up with the same number and draw a Criiter card, then randomise where they come in. We did this because in the last edition Pets weren't worth taking but we wanted to use the models. Antarius Posted yesterday at 07:38 AM Share Posted yesterday at 07:38 AM That's a great idea. The awesome pet models really is both one of the best and worst things about Necromunda, isn't it Come to think of it, there's something I don't think every gang needs (though to be fair, I'd be happy with a standardised "general pets" list).
