Based on what made the cut to be considered "about the models" vs what got removed for veering into socio-political issues, not sure if this qualifies, but here goes:

The male Goliath models are pretty good. (If you wonder which models I mean by that, you may reference little Joey's comments to Detective John Kimble in Kindergarten Cop.)

The croc is a nice model, but I am not sold on including it in the gang. Feels like most gangs should just be people.

We use a lot of the pets as NPC's that attack any ganger that enters their territory.

We have a deck of 'Critter' cards that we draw from if our Priority roll comes up with the same number and draw a Criiter card, then randomise where they come in. We did this because in the last edition Pets weren't worth taking but we wanted to use the models.

This sounds great. We’ve used critters often as environmental hazards but I like the random event tied to priority idea. That way you don’t need to make a separate roll.

I think pets are looking much more appealing this go-round. They are mostly much cheaper, more models can take them, and they seem pretty useful. Granted they may not be the “best” choice every time, but they are certainly fun and not crippling to take. I am an Orlock player and only ever used dogs as objectives because they were so exspensive.

Where does it actually say those two models are supposed to be women?

Nowhere.  I think they're meant to be ambiguous, so they could be wimmin, they could be juves, they can be whatever you want, no need to get twisted.

Yeah. I think they're perfectly fine as either, honestly. If not, it should be reasonably easy to trade them to someone who wants them (assuming "not buying them" is not an option). I'll be happy to take a couple from anyone who's got them to spare.

I will say that the reaction to and "discussion" about them has had one positive effect, though. Suddenly the idea of "an eternity of war" seems positively realistic

As for the rest of the set, I really think the idea of "wandering monsters" is a good one (either for Necromunda or something else), so I might end up getting the set just for the Croccos. I'm curious as to how many options the different champions will have, as it would be a little disappointing to just have two build options for each - I know it sounds a bit silly to complain about a Goliath champion with a huge axe, but it would be nice if there were options for a couple of different loadouts.

Agreed. Sounds like a more involved version of The Scavengers scenario monster rules.

IIRC Warcry had some pretty cool rules too that would probably be "portable" with just a little bit of work.

Warcry

It really is a crying shame Warcry seems to be a bit on the dead side. It was a pretty nifty little spin-off game and gave us some fantastic kits. Still mad I never bought the Iron Golem box...
