Nobz being in a killteam would certainly explain why they arent released alongside the codex. Still annoying for Ork players though. Although at least they arent removing them from the codex and then adding them back in 2 months later like wolf scouts lol. Quote hoo boys... Itll only be weird if they decide to drop in phobos marks or something, which wouldnt fit with LotD at all. I think the LotD has two competing concepts in the fandom: The Rogue Trader "Warp-Diseased" premise. Guys who decorate their armour in imagery of the damned (skeletons burning in the flames of perdition), because they know that their disease destines them to die outside of the Emperor's grace; but who continue to fight for the Imperium anyway - using their tainted power against His enemies. The 6th edition "Ghost Riders" premise. The psychic backlash of Space Marines who died traumatic deaths, who are being manifested as actual spectres to take burning vengeance. The former idea lends itself to older Marks of armour, as the Flame Falcons Fire Hawks contracted their disease in 963.M41. (Though if the LotD's disease is capable of spreading, then it's theoretically possible that they could accidentally infect other, Primaris, Space Marines that they come in contact with, creating new Primaris LotD.) The latter... there'd be no reason why Primaris Marines couldn't become LotD; and if they are just a psychic manifestation (or alternatively, "Emperor-Daemons") then their form would be mutable. (And thus, they could appear in Primaris armour.) Evil Eye Posted August 19 Share Posted August 19 Speaking as someone who's 50/50 on whether I prefer the LotD as mutated Fire Hawks or the Space Marine equivalent of the LOTR Army of the Dead (and personally I don't want it definitively answered either way) I'd rather they were at least predominantly classic designs; if they're vengeful revenants, the vast majority of dead Marines would have been pre-Primaris, so their armour should reflect as such. If they're the Fire Hawks, they went missing long before Primaris. Plus, keeping them predominantly classic designs neither confirms nor denies their origins and thus keeps the mystery intact.
