Mogger351
Via reddit someone got a 2028 stamped destrier sprue. https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/s/8tlgifSIuQ I think I just spotted a @Chapter Master Valrak video as well the second i posted. Karhedron
OK so are we guessing Knights will be near the end of the 11th edition refresh cycle if they are coming in 2028. Could be the mid point if it was January 2028, but more likely back half. As chaos tend to pair into their release my spikey mechs will likely be a back of the bus job as well. Still, it's likely to knock the wind out of some sails. I don't think GW will acknowledge this in any capacity either as it'd be too problematic. There's no reason to think its the tail end. The edition will assumingly end June 2029, so unless they drop knights the winter of 2028, it's hopefully at least a year of new life. de Selby
It looks to be armed with giant versions of the arc rifle, making it a mechanicus knight. Weird to see a postdated sprue, I'm more used to new sprues with years-old dates because they are copyright when they are designed, not sold. StrangerOrders
I really dig the helm options. Anyone else notice the two half masks? The skull one looks like you can make it more or less have a Machina Opus for a face. Interesting weapon choice on the giant arc rifle, makes me think it is a tank hunter which I thought Destriers could do handily but maybe it does so differently (or my premise is off). Not sure what is going on with the second weapon, maybe I am hallucinating but the two corner pieces of the sprue make me think some kind of industrial press or clamp claw (but they could also be arm components and you use one of the other Destrier weapons on the other arm). Excited for it though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388372-imperial-knights-2028-release/#findComment-6182534 Share on other sites
Magos Takatus
I would say the clampy bits will be massive taser lances. I could be wrong though. sitnam 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388372-imperial-knights-2028-release/#findComment-6182546 Share on other sites
Lexington
Huh. We’re probably all very aware of how GW works at least three-ish years ahead of release, but it’s pretty of surprising to see finished sprues from at least a year out. Didn’t think they started to cast and put stock together that early, tho I suppose it’s possible that this is just a test. …or it’s AI, and the rumors/leaks situation for the foreseeable future just got a lot weirder. Especially with a Knight tooled up with a Skitarii flavour through this big Arc Gun. And the red circled parts may look like a set of carapace mounted weapons, like a small ML and a Flak cognis stubber. The halved face plates are also a nice Mechanicum touch. Matcap86
I'm more amazed that GW is planning that far ahead on their release schedules. Always thought they had a decent release plan that could be shifted around as necessary. Also wild they're already producing copies now for 2028 releases. I'd expect them to be doing 2027 stuff now. kabaakaba 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388372-imperial-knights-2028-release/#findComment-6182582 Share on other sites
Indy Techwisp
Here's a thought. Considering the blatant AdMech bits on there, what if this isn't a Knights release but an AdMech release with that sprue being to convert a Destrier into a new AdMech native Knight. Not impossible but the cross use of kits between books is quite rare. Marshal Reinhard
Was typing up a storm, then I noticed I largely misread the post I was going to reply to, so am dropping the quotation. I think this is definitely going to be a knight release. It fits very well with the MO they had with the Questoris chassis. Originally, the Questoris had just two ranged weapon options, no melee options, no shoulder weapon options and no top weapons at all ,or 4 different weapons in grand total. It then got repackaged with additional weapon options several times, adding even entirely new weapon categories like top carapace launchers, with the current weapon count is well above a dozen. These sprues also came with additional customization options, new face helms etc, like we see here. The fact that we have a noticeable weight to Admech specific armaments and decorations here, to me more suggest to me that the original sprues for the Destrier were kind of light on these parts to begin with. The admech theme of this sprue may even be a selling point but, but the sprue will be open for non admech house knights as well, like those carapace rocket pods. That said, as the ultimate "low number of total kits" army, knights typically don't get particularly many new kits or kit addons whenever the spot light is shown on them. I could definitely see this being their one 11th edition add-on, and timing wise it could very well directly precede (or follow) a wider mechanicum release wave. Tawnis
One thing that this made me realize. If GW is currently this far ahead in planning, despite the large amount of leaks that we do get, it's barely a drop in the bucket compared to all the potential information that is out there. For a while, I thought that some or most of the leaks were likely intentional by GW to build hype before certain releases, but there have been a couple, this one chief among them (the early KT one from last year another) that have made me rethink that and consider it as more of just, with that much information out there in the world, someone is bound to leak something at some point.
