Hi I'm SaladOhm - A bit about myself and how I intend to use B&C

Hi nice to meet you all, I've been a long time fan of Warhammer 40k, and have a large collection compiling of 40k, Horus Heresy, and AoS. I don't game much, the community is sparse here, so I paint instead. I've been painting for roughly 16-18 years, and I thought it would be nice to share and organise my finished pictures and WIPs somewhere so I don't bother my wife and friends incessantly about things they may have little interest about! I also hope this will help motivate me in finishing unfnished projects, and others in ideation, guidance, or entertainment.

My main collection is Space Marines (I hear the rolling eyes lol!) since 5th edition, specifically a huge fan of firstborn and the old firstborn rules and lore (RIP two days ago). I also have a number of different collections across the sci fi and fantasy range, as I really enjoy and engage in the painting aspect the most, and trying new techniques.

I have many WIPs, the most recent one I am working on is a firstborn themed army. I had an old collection a long time ago, but had to let go, so this is a refresh. Hopefully by posting here and engaging with everyone, I'll be able to be motivated to make better progress, and find an engaging outlet! I intend to provide insights into my thinking and my process as I post.

I'm not entirely sure where to start from here, as I don't often frequent Bolter and Chainsword, so any recommendations or guidance would be appreciated! I'd like to make sure I'm not scuffing the rules.

Welcome on board @SaladOhm! That must be some electrifying salad you got there!

 

B&C has a great amount of year around painting and modelling challenges. Right now the Call to Arms 2026 is running where people can pledge to paint an amount of miniatures until the 15th of September to help their 'stronghold' win the challenge (Imperium, Chaos, Xenos, etc.), as well as other challenges such as '12 months of hobby' and 'Beat the Backlog' (all of these can be found in the Artisan's Workshop forum).

 

It also has a really nice way to organise your galleries, and even write a blog about it. I've only recently started using these last two features and are really handy!

 

In any case, as a fellow 'more painter, less gamer' type of guy myself, I bid you welcome!
