Reading the second now. Really quite enjoying them even if they are for kids.

They have pictures every few chapters. So did the horus heresy novels. Why did BL stop doing that? Expense? The art can be reused (and frequently is).

I remember Laurie Goulding had a lengthy post about getting art for the heresy books once. It had not gone according to plan and he needed to borrow art from forgeworld.

Kinda wish we still had the necromancy thread. It would be the perfect place to discuss this.

That was during the Publications era, and an example of a mishap!

The Warhammer 40k Crime novels were good. Much, much better than all the space marine bolterporn that gets churned out on the conveyor belts.

But I guess they are a bit more niche in the 40k novel market, and also get far less promotion than the bolterporn stuff, so it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy that they then perhaps don't sell as well.

It is a real shame. I thought they were great

One little (minuscule) glimmer of hope (for me at least) is if GW and Amazon MGM do not royally screw up, then the Film and TV deal could be huge and require a lot of content (assuming multiple shows). A Warhammer Crime TV series is not beyond the realms of possibility! Straw clutching perhaps?

Little bit of grasping there, but if whatever they deliver does hit biggish it is worth remembering that the ‘police procedural’ has been a staple of TV (and its bastard son streaming) since forever.  Never underestimate Hollywood’s love of low-hanging fruit. :whistling:
