Warsong Clan Warboss

Hi all, wanted to do a palette cleanser project separate from my homebrew warband. I really like the Armageddon Warboss and never paint anything but Marines so thought it was a good opportunity to branch out and try some new things. This is my first real time painting skin (other than dead/flayed skin) and I think it came out great! I went with a Warsong clan inspired scheme from World of Warcraft, so a brown/orange skin tone, and free handed a rough Warsong clan symbol on the banner. I wanted to stick to a pretty limited, warm palette, with the red bits contrasting highly with the drab equipment and clothing. I wanted a really grungy, weathered look, so did most surfaces with stippling and scratches. In my ongoing quest to find the perfect way to paint black armor for my Marines, I came across a technique using plastic putty (the kind used to fill gaps) to texture armor to make it look like cast iron (like on pans or tanks). I tried that out and am very pleased with the result, though unfortunately not really sure it would fit my Marines, so the quest continues.
