ggergnayr
So, I bought N26 and I convinced 3-4 friends to play a campaign with me to try it out. The only terrain I have is from Hivestorm, and while that will work, it’s not nearly enough for a 3’x3’ board. Perusing the internet made me realize that instead of spending money on terrain I can join the long tradition of spending money on minis and making my OWN terrain! Welcome to Junkromunda. I’ll shows sources as I can, and show steps as I build and hopefully you have as much fun and interest in reading this as I do producing everything you’ll see. 2 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388517-junkromunda-project-log/ Share on other sites
ggergnayr
I work in HVAC, and we frequently pull old equipment to replace it. That means I saw this bounty in the warehouse and immediately started sourcing small bits. ggergnayr
I went to Michael’s and bought a couple of 12 inch square 3 mm chipboard sheets, just to test out the idea of making modular 1’ x 1’ panels. I then spent too long, staring at the bits and staring at the sheet, trying to figure out what to make before I realized that I was gonna die of analysis paralysis, and then just started gluing stuff on. The tall platforms in the back are outside corner pieces for refrigerant line casing. It’s 4 inch vinyl that we have two giant boxes of. It’ll probably make an appearance again. I took three coils that I unscrewed from some electronics parts and hot glued those down and then just started hot, gluing random plastic bits onto those platforms. My next step is going to be to run wires in between the coils and then probably one up to the platform just to give a little more fun and now I’ve got the beginning of Sub Genatorium 68A. Bonus pictures, my very small workspace covered in junk as I worked, and the first little things I made. -One tea box cargo container. -One soup can turned into the beginning of a gunk tank, because the first scenario I ever played was Gunk Tank and if I don’t have one I’ll be disappointed in myself. -One dollar store ambulance that I was originally going to use as an Ash Waste racing vehicle for my Delaque gang in an old campaign. It’s gonna be a food truck now, if I can find more, I might do a little food cart pod because it’s amazing what you can make out of corpse starch. Also, I’m not sure if these photo files are too small or not. I’m trying to make it all work on my cell phone. I might have to redo some if they’re illegible. Thanks for reading! 4 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388517-junkromunda-project-log/#findComment-6186423 Share on other sites
Castigator
Brilliant stuff. This is the sort of stuff that made me pick up 'Munda again, back in 2017. 40k had moved away from building homemade terrain (as well as the ruleset turning to trash) and it had lost it's soul IMO. Necromunda is just like 40k used to be, all about imagination, variety and enjoying the narrative instead of it being a sport like 40k has become. I still use my 'Munda tiles that have cans, fish filters and cardboard tubes (with additional gubbins added) even though I have enough for 3 tables worth of games using GW stuff. Please keep posting your progress because this has made me smile 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388517-junkromunda-project-log/#findComment-6186474 Share on other sites
ggergnayr
Thanks! It’s really enjoyable to just smash some things together and make something out of it. I’ll definitely keep going. The storytelling and imagination of Necromunda is my favorite part, and makes it an easy sell to friends. “Want to play a game where your toys can fall 9” and then die because the other guy set a tower on fire with their mind?” actually works great as a recruiting pitch. 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388517-junkromunda-project-log/#findComment-6186504 Share on other sites
