They said it wasn't. It's an addition to the range. Will be checking out the white paint. I've already tried white paints from other manufacturers because the base GW white is terrible, it's closer to toothpaste than paint.

It's in addition according to what they said in the stream.

They were talking them up quite a bit in the stream. I'm curious to try them out, particularly the yellows for their supposed coverage.

Am I understanding this correctly - I could buy Bloodtoof Red in any one of those 5 shades, from light to dark? 1-5?

 

If this is saying I can use Bloodtoof Red 1, 3 and 5 to paint red then I'm keen on that? I think? 

I know it's not ground breaking, but when the names change I do struggle to remember my extra paints - macragge blue then is it calgar? alaitoc? is the highlight blue horror? fenrisian grey?

 

If this is 'you just need Ultramar blue - choose your shade!' then I'm kinda on board with it.

The concept is similar to Vallejo's new True Metallic Metal which I'm enjoying quite a bit. The skin and grey colors is definitely something I'm getting.

Army painter fanatic extended colour triads are almost the same concept just cheaper and better bottles though?

With these still being in the same old horrible bottles, an inevitable price premium, and with so many top paint ranges on the market now, these will be a tough sell for me. Will probably only pick up select colours if the range is actually phenomenal

As much as I enjoy the bespoke names for each color, this is clearly the way paints should be organized, especially for new hobbyists. It's also a great business strategy – Sure, you can buy one pot, but you need five to get the full effect...

Also wasn't there a wet pallet seen in the wild a while back? Still hasn't manifested I see.

Only GW would release a white paint called Blackstone Void 5.

 

I've had trouble with GW washes recently which was the oly part of their range I really liked. I think I'm transitioning to all non GW products just so they don't change every time I want to buy a new pot of something.

I feel this is a money saver? I've bought dozens of useless paints because when I'm buying them I can't quite remember if I need Evil Sunz or Wild Rider so I buy both.  This negates that problem.

GW should move to a better bottle. I won't tell anyone what they should or should not buy, but it's not a new concept and other companies with decent paints have better bottles for lower prices.

 

Value is in the eye of the beholder.

Fair enough, I've been using GW paints since the early 90's - the bottle doesn't bother me.

My thumbs still remember the pain of opening those old 90's pots, these ones don't bother me that much. Excited to possibly have a good yellow, magenta, and white coming into the range that aren't Contrast.

If the coverage is all they're hyping it up to be then I could see myself moving over to some of these as my old "normal" colours run out. I mean it feels like some of this is just a codification of almost-triads that exist in the range anyway: Stormwolf Blue 1-5 looks a lot like The Fang, Russ Grey and Fenrisian Grey. Seraphon Blue 1-5 looks like Stegadon Scale Green , Sotek Green and Temple Guard Blue, and so on.

Yes, i think that's the point? (apologies if I've missed your point!)

So ultramarines blue will just be 1-5 shades of ultramarines blue, instead if macragge > calgar > fenris > or whatever.

Ultramarines Blue (normal) is the same colour as Ultramarines Blue 3.

The other numbers are different shades of it.
