T'ros Plog

Started this last year as I've been going through my old models and have finally decided on a paint scheme and project plan for my T'au models!  I had previously done them in three different schemes as I couldn't decide (you'll see them in some of the pictures)...

 

I am going to be building the T'ros Defence Force set after the successful defence of the world as described in Imperial Armour Volume III.  This'll let me use all of my kits and do some fun Gue'vesa models using various bits and pieces I have.  

 

So after destroying my old Cadian models I have begun to build a squad of T'ros Gue'vesa'la armed with the T'ros Patterned Carbine with its signature Photon Grenade Launcher and rail-mounted Sight or Marker Light, designated suitable for auxiliaries with 5 digits on each hand:

And I also mixed together my old kits of Fire Warriors with the new kit making three strike teams.

I need another box of Fire Warriors to finish off the Gue'vesa'la Strike Team and a Shas'la Breacher Team and have plans for more auxiliaries which might happen next year but I need to really get on with painting ~100 Space Marines first...

Youve got a really good start here. What sept colorscheme are you going to use? Im unfamiliar with the backround lore you mentioned.

Tau are a bit odd in the 40k galaxy in that they don't have Sept colours, instead they use the marking colours as Sept identifiers and where armour colours that match the environment they are fighting in.  In short they're going to be in desert colours.

 

As for Taros, it was the first Imperial Armour book that focused on a campaign which made it the most detailed and realistic conflict between Imperial and Tau forces that GW has ever gone into.  

 

Taros (T'ros to the Tau) was an Imperial mining world which the T'au infiltrated and began exploiting for their own gain.  It ended up pulling in 2 Space Marine chapters, 10(?) Imperial Guard regiments from 5 different worlds, Assassins and Titans (one of which got headshot).

It is always nice to see a new project starting and growing. You may have a great material for a Blog. May be you should consider telling us the story of your developments in the Blog section of the site too?

It does not prevent from keeping posting here (it is even recommended to double post so that all members access in one way or another to your work) : some of us like being told a story, and the Blog is perfect for that, while some other do rather reboot on the last post of yours in a more dynamic way of dialoguing.

A blog does sound fun - I've tried one before and ran out of steam though (on a different website)

 

I've taken two second hand old style XV88 'Broadside' suits and an unbuilt old style XV8 'Crisis' suit and turned them into a team of three:

 

I'm thinking of adding more missiles to the far right one as he's meant to have High Yield Missile Pods but when I tried it, it up looking a bit silly...

 

And I've also taken a photo of the Devilfish I painted last year in two-tone Desert/Aerial Insertion colours which draws on some ideas of camo used in WWII North Africa campaign for both planes and tanks, and sits nicely alongside the schemes in the Imperial Armour book:
