Peachfuzz
Hello fellas! You can call me Peachfuzz. I’ve been a fan of Warhammer for quite a long time, but it’s been more of an on-and-off relationship over the years. It all started when I played the first DoW game back in elementary school, around the time it was first released. My cousin, who was in the military, went on a joint military exercise and was gifted two copies of the game by one of the foreign soldiers there. He gave one of them to me, and that’s basically where it all started. I started exploring the lore more when I got into high school. I say it’s been an on-and-off relationship because I would get busy with other stuff, but I always found time to play the video games. I never really tried the tabletop side or collecting minis because when I was younger, my mom said they were too expensive. Now that I’m older, I’m rediscovering my love for Warhammer books, both 40K and Fantasy. I spend a lot of my free time either reading Black Library books or playing Warhammer video games. Now my wife is also starting to get into WH40K, and she’s actually the one who convinced me that we should finally start buying our own minis. We’re still canvassing right now, and hopefully after we’re done with our house renovation stuff, we can buy our first Combat Patrol. I joined this forum to learn more about the hobby and the lore, and hopefully finally get into painting and the tabletop side of Warhammer too, especially painting since that’s the part of the hobby that really attracts me. Glad to be here 6 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388577-hello-pretty-late-introduction/ Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
Welcome to the B&C There's a wealth of knowledge here to be shared, all you need do, is ask. In The Forge, General PCA is a great place to ask more general hobbying questions, whereas the Faction-specific sub-forums will help with more targeted questions. Your wife is a true blessing from the Emperor. It's never too late. DoW was the catalyst for me too. Welcome! 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388577-hello-pretty-late-introduction/#findComment-6189253 Share on other sites
Alby the Slayer
Hello and welcome Peachfuzz. My advise is to start painting as soon as you can once you'll find what you want to paint. The more you paint, the fast you will see improvments! Don't forget to show us what you will do. I cannot really blame your mother, tabletop miniature hobby can get expensive in the long run. But it is your own money that you are spending now. If you are looking for an easy way to get started, then you might want to try the skirmish games like Necromunda or Kill Team, where you only need a small number of figures. This makes it easier to get your initial force assembled, painted and adventuring around the tabletop. 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388577-hello-pretty-late-introduction/#findComment-6189609 Share on other sites
Tawnis
Welcome to B&C, it's so great to be able to share your hobby with your spouse. My wife has just started collecting Tzeentch Daemons. To second Greifbringer's point, Kill Team is a great way to get into the hobby on a smaller scale and the units all have rules in 40k if you want to upscale into a larger army later. 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388577-hello-pretty-late-introduction/#findComment-6189658 Share on other sites
