candicelia167
Hi all. I've been reading the Black Library section for a few days before signing up, mainly the Bjorn the Fell-Handed thread and the one asking whether Cannibal Gate is worth buying. I'm a lot more into the novels and lore than the tabletop side, though I do have a small box of unpainted marines sitting on a shelf that I keep promising to deal with. Which of the recent Horus Heresy novels would you start with if you've only read the first few? Its hard to tell where the series picks up for someone coming back to it. 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388686-new-here-mostly-lurking-in-the-black-library-section/ Share on other sites
Lathe Biosas
Welcome aboard! I ended up sitting in line for 2 hours for the store to open so. I could be first to buy Cannibal Gate. Since taking it home it's been sitting on my shelf waiting for me to read it. I'm currently rereading my favorite Horus Heresy novel: Master of Mankind. It has Imperial Knights, Titans, Custodes, the Mechanicum, the Imperial Webway, billions of daemons, and the Emperor. It's one of the most enjoyable Horus Heresy novels, and for the most part you don't need to have read a chunk of Heresy novels to "get it." Edited Thursday at 10:13 AM by Lathe Biosas ... Bouargh
Welcome here. B&C gives access to the hobby through many different pathways - you are more BL books and lore, I am more painting my backlog wile some othe members are fanatic gamers. There is a little (or rather lots) of things for everyone to be happy over here. Welcome again. Grotsmasha
The Heresy novels are a little fluid with the timeline so that they can adequately deal with all the Legions. I'd recommend choosing a Legion and reading their books, incl their Primarch novel. Having said that, if it's been a while, is reread the first 3 books. 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388686-new-here-mostly-lurking-in-the-black-library-section/#findComment-6191655 Share on other sites
Griefbringer
Welcome on board! I have also started following the Black Library section here, even though I am not into buying any new ones at the moment - I do have a backlog of unread BL books (bought second hand) that will last me well into next year. I do have a moderate collection of BL books that I have read, but it is still significantly smaller than my miniature collection.
