I'm trying to resurrect my beloved Tyranids with a coherent and easy to paint colour scheme, but a thought occurred to me regarding winged organisms. Traditionally, Tyranids have chiropteran, membraneous wings derived from limbs. However I have always quite liked insect wings on Tyranids; they look cool and being muscle actuated extensions of the carapace, they skirt round the six limb rule.

That said I do still have a soft spot for more traditional Tyranid wings, and the challenge of incorporating bioweapons with one pair of limbs devoted to flight is fun. Does anyone have any thoughts on which I should commit to? I have a 3D printer so sourcing bitz isn't a problem.
