I've read a bunch of well thought out and decently written Warhammer stories lately... but I've had a hankering for some dumb Michael Bay level explosions and fighting.

I'm looking for some recommendations on fun (mindless) Warhammer stuff to read while I'm on the train/bus.

Got anything  for me?

(And yes, I've read everything by C.S. Goto, Gav Thorpe, and William King.)

I thought Knight of Macragge was pretty fun and decent for background stuff

It has some horrorish, some fighting, a complete tonal change in the middle where you get Space Marines versus medieval peasants, the whole bag

The flesh terrors novels (also an audio collection) are almost entirely battle/yelling/red thirst

But yeah,  pretty much anything from the battle series as @Tolmeus said

If they don't have to be paperbacks you might get a good laugh out of these audiobooks (at least I did) there's some crackle for sure, not sure to the level of Bay's crackle though.:

Spear of the emperor has some great battle scenes on top of being an excellent book. I've just finished tales of heresy, some good bolter moments in there.

I may give ADB another chance with this. I know everyone loves GG, but man Blood and Fire was a struggle for me. I'll have to see if I've read anything else from him. If I did I can't recall it.

You, my friend are missing out! I've not read Blood and Fire, maybe it was one of his earlier books? The Night Lords trilogy is excellent, then all of his heresy work is sme of the best stuff that BL has put out. IMO he's the best author BL have had, and pipped Abnett and McNeil in terms of characterisation and 'I want to make an army of these guys'.

Not sure on that, but I thought it was way too wordy. Too much hem and haw about blah blah blah.

Have you tried: Cadian Blood or Helsreach by Aaron Dembski-Bowden?

I watched the adaptation, and felt indifferent so I think I found someone reading it on youtube, but may have dozed off or starting doing something else, I just can't remember. But listening to the audible sample just now I can tell you that it would likely annoy the heck out of me, maybe in part due to Jonathan Keeble's narration. But more so the writing. While flowery is fine, I do love some of Tolkien's poetry, flowery minutae where the microcosm is explained in scientific detail makes my ears bleed and my eyes rollback into my head.
