Space Hulk Modeling Thread

I can tell you it took some time too. Done in two steps, the main chest section was done while the 'tabbard' bits were curing slightly since i needed them to be semi cured before i could make any attempt to attach them without risking too much re-shaping.

Placed some GS on the chest and used a toothpick to make the folds (although i think i may have over folded) and let it cure slightly and then kept on repeating til i was happy with the smoothness of the GS and the appearance. Hit the tabbard sections by lightly making the folds into them while they were still on the plastic bag and all i did was use the top ends and merge it into the chest section and just moved them here and there over the legs to make them look alot less straight as.

Time consuming yes, but with enough patience and time, i think anyone could achieve the same look, if not perform the proceedure to a higher quality.

Honestly, those are beautiful  ! No crits here

I thought about signing up... but school has been exceedingly difficult, I have no money, and... um... Not enough time now...(Plus, Cpt. Tiberius has the 'Sharks covered! ;) ) But great models everyone! you guys should be proud!

It feels a lil weird since im the only one posting updates :P

Alas, im still kickin' and hoping i make the deadline next week. Anyway modelling and pre-paint work has been COMPLETED on the Lion Guard Terminators, so here is a pic of what they looked like before i started slapping on black paint:

Given that they have now migrated to my paint desk, i probably wont take any more pics til they start popping off the assembly line, but ill keep the forum updated as to how they are going. Just need to touch up the undercoat/base coat a bit (thank goodness they are black) and then i can proceed onto actually painting up these termies.

I suspect the magnetic flamer arm helps since the arm isnt fixed into position so i can do all sorts of funny things when it comes to posing, although naturally id try to keep it within the same position for general conistency and to match the laws of physics. The flames were my first try, since i had some leftover GS so i thought, hey why not make some flames and gave it a go and they came out looking pretty ok. Painting them up will be fun, but im happy with these guys.

Now to see how well they look painted :P

I'm just checking the B&C before I move on to finish the bases for my termies. They're undercoated, only need a few coats of paint, so I'll hopefully post finished pictures tomorrow.

Sadly, I coudn't come up with enough ideas to stick with the "walls" base theme, but I've made see-through bases...

Heh.. i still need to finish work on the bases.. It isnt too difficult, but yeah.. just a tad bit annoying.

I managed to touch up the under/base coat on the termies (at least their bodies) so they are ready to go. I might have a bit more time available to me to get more painting done, so ill see how things go. And HOPEFULLY ill get some of these bases ready as well.

Oddly enough, painting yellow, or the pre stages for yellow arent as easy as i thought. However, i continue to keep pressing on, and thus have pics of the Termies under/base coated and with the immediate stage for the robes (and after searching through past threads, i might go brown next time).

Still got alot to do, so im still crossing my fingers to getting stuff done in the next few days.

And... for clarification:

1. They are not 'flying assault marines' :P

2. You arent the only folk feeling like Halloween is coming...

I dunno man, they look seriously scary right now as is :P

Nice work, Angelus, makes me feel really stupid as I sit here glowering at mine.

Ohh, I agree with you! The more i see black and orange stuff, the more i want an army with black armor and orange robes, suffice to say, maybe ill start 'The Pyre' Chaos marines at a much LATER date...

Normally, i wouldnt be doing this much 40K work in such a short period of time (i blame OMG and the SH AoD for this). Whether i make the deadline is another question entirely, although i can assure you, after these terminators are done, im going back to the whole 'sit and stare at unfinished models' routine!

:D ...and I blame Blindhamster.

Oh, why can't we just stop all the finger pointing? Yet, in the end, isn't it all REFUSE's fault?

-OMG

*thinks carefully about OMG's argument*

With that being said, i guess, yeah, we can blame Refuse for all of this :D

Darn you Refuse! 'Cos of you, ill have a squad of 5 terminators finished by weeks end!! ;)

But you say that like it's a bad thing. Come on admit it, you really like slaving away to get you guys done :D

Edited for spelling

I choose NOT to answer that Azazal!!

However i will admit, it is a nice feeling and goes to show that i do paint and model when i choose to

Plus, with these termies out of the way, i can get back to my Sisters and every other army under the moon til the next time i embark on a mission to convert terminators for X army.

It has been a fun experience for sure, and id love to sign up for another AoD or what not (preferably around the start date and not 4.5 weeks before it starts).

Suffice to say im still trucking along, but to meet the deadline of the 21st? Not looking too crash hot.

Regardless on whether i make the deadline or not, i am still determined to finish these guys from start to finish, so im hoping by the end of the week they will be done, but the middle of the week? Its stretching it just a TAD bit....

:P ...and I blame Blindhamster.

:o oh come now! it was sooo not my fault!

it was at least as much you as me that got the BA forum so involved early on... and your the mod :) so its all YOUR fault :P

*p.s. nearly done with my termis*

Well i wasnt planning on making a WIP post, but since the thread is semi alive again:

Basically, im no where NEAR where id like to be in terms of completion, so i might have to unfortunately hit a warp storm, severely delaying my arrival. I'll still keep on dishing out the termies, as i aint finishing til these babies are complete.

And yeah, I think we can all agree to just blame Refuse for this mess ;)

*EDIT*

I just saw a BEAUTIFUL gold yellow robe'd mini in another thread and yeah, im thinking i might need to rework the robes again as that orange thing is NOT doing it for me at all.

Ooooooh.. After doing some searchy stuff too, i am NOT leaving those robes as they are!! So yeah, i might be very late with this for sure....

  • 2 weeks later...

Since it looks like there WILL be a Round 2, i thought that for thsoe that couldnt make Round 1 could use some more motivation to finsih their termies (i know i can).

Ive touched up my termies so the robes are pretty much done now (and im alot more happier with them). However the camera flash knocked out alot of the tone, but suffice to say, it isnt orange anymore. Also, my camera wanted to 'paint' some of the metal areas for me, which in truth, hasnt been done yet :D

That aside, im alot more happier with them now and ive started work on their arms as well, so some of them might start showing up with actual arms very soon.

So here they are in the more decent form:

That's a nice yellow you've got there, Angelus ;)

Indeed  Simple case of working up from Filthy Brown to Golden Yellow and then a quick swipe of Sunburst Yellow (Vallejo paints that is). Next time i take a pic ill try to either step back a bit so the flash doesnt mute the robes OR not use the flash and hope i can use the lighting around me to my advantage.
