TheHalifax
Thanks guys, andd i agree co2, he is a normal marine, Abaddon will be bigger  At the moment im working the scabard and right arm, im planning on having him holding a bolter in his right hand but if anyone has any suggestions let me know <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/#findComment-1030540 Share on other sites
Primarch16
Great books, great model. Looks pretty good dude, it would be cool to see him with his combat knife out, hes often in the thick of it <_<. Alpha PTP
Awsome so far. I cannot wait to see him done. He is awsome in the books. :3 Alpha Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/#findComment-1030653 Share on other sites
Commander Trask
Awsome so far. I cannot wait to see him done. He is awsome in the books. :3 Alpha Yeah Garviel Loken does some major ownage, and the model is shaping up to be something impressive indeed. I actually had the similar image in my head of him except he was standing on some rocks or soemthing giving it the authority pose, but to each his own. Abaddon you say? yes would love to see that one too! anyone thought of doing Jubal yet? Goththing
Have to say so far im not dissapointed great work. No not Jubal, Tarik For the win by far the best char  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/#findComment-1030672 Share on other sites
TheHalifax
I think Abaddon, Torgadon and Aximal will all be coming after i have Vipus' and Jubal's squads done... :) As for Lokens pose im having some problems focusing the camera and getting a decently sized pic, but to give you an idea his left arm is extended out and is holding the chainsword, his right has the bolter and is slightly lowered towards the floor, im not sure whether to have him looking in the same direction as the chainsword or the bolter. ;) Ill try and get pics up later on today though ;) Im also thinking of using thin plasticard to space out the joins in Abaddons power armour as the book has him being a lot taller than the other captains. Thanks for all the comeback so far, im hoping to have Loken finished by next week, some more ideas for bases would be apreciated as well thanks  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/#findComment-1030961 Share on other sites
zbo
Now that depends. Do you want him to sort of have the 'I'm rock hard come and get it' look Or the 'I'm about to rip your face off and feed it to my dog' look If you want the 'I'm rock hard come and get it' look have him looking over the bolter, or if you want the 'I'm about to rip your face off and feed it to my dog' look have it looking with the chain sword. Either way i'll make a nice model. Personally I'd have it over the bolter as that the sort of person I am, but It's your model do what you want :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/#findComment-1030965 Share on other sites
Primarch16
I'd go for a combat knife rather than a chainsword, he doesnt use one in the books. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/#findComment-1031074 Share on other sites
gyulkus chaos saurus
I like it a lot, can't wait to see the finished mini! @Primarc16- ? He does use a chainsword in the book! Read the opening part. Blindhamster
his default weapon however does seem to be a 'broad sword' id asume for 40k gaming terms its a power sword, looking at the front cover if you were to shorten a power sword that would work well... alternatly check the warhammer range. tagsta
whoohooo someone started a loken conversion... looks promising... I love him! which head are you goinf to use? I think I'm going to convert torgaddon or saul tarvitz in a MK4 armour... greetz tagsta Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/#findComment-1031157 Share on other sites

It actually states in the book that he uses a chainsword, the Emperors Children wield broadswords: "A jolt of force tore his bolter from his hands, so he reached over his hip and drew his chainsword from its scabbard." And as for the head ill be using one of the FW MK4 ones as the lunar wolves usually fight helmeted. :) Test pics in 2 min... TheHalifax
Heres the pics :D : http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/hal...rk/DSCF0056.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/hal...rk/DSCF0024.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/hal...rk/DSCF0017.jpg The 40mm base pictured is one i've had floating about for a bit, :P as it is im still not sure which i'll be using, another idea i've had is to sculpt a demonic face into a 25mm base then add slate so that the face doesnt stand out too much. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/#findComment-1031289 Share on other sites
Rau le Creuset
I would use a more pre-heresy-like bolter, like the 2nd edition bolter. What backpack will you use ? As for now he looks kind of "plain". Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/#findComment-1031295 Share on other sites
TheHalifax
Ill be using the marine back pack with an exhaust on the back, for the bolter im going to fill in the finger grooves at the front, shorten the back and smooth off the bottom of the clip to make it look older, im not to keen on using the 2nd ed bolters as i dont think they're as detailed. What do you mean by plain though? :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/#findComment-1031316 Share on other sites
