Blessed Knight
The Mournival have a picture of a phase of the moon under one of theyre eyes on the helmet i.e abaddon has full moon. The red stripe isn't mentioned The red stripe is in the shape of a crescent situated under one eye (Lokan) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/page/3/#findComment-1035086 Share on other sites
Ju'kosian
Loken's helmet is marked above the right eye with the crescent mark of the new moon.. (aximand has a half moon, abaddon the full and Torgaddon the gibbous) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/page/3/#findComment-1035090 Share on other sites
TheHalifax
That base is awesome!! How'd you do it? This base was done before i had my nifty circle cutter, all i did was draw around the base onto textured plasticard then glue it down and cut and file down any excess material from around the edges so tha the slope of the plasticard matched that of the base. Then i painted it to look like floor tiles B) (for those who arnet sure what it is [ you foul heretics maybe :)] its the left side of the Imperial Eagle.) At the moment i have his torso done and his left arm attached, ill attach the right after painting, and im also working on the smaller 25mm base; i should have pics up later. Im just trying to come up with a way of doing the head crest atm, im not sure whether to go for the roman centurian style or spartan style crest  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/page/3/#findComment-1035159 Share on other sites

TheHalifax
what are Q-bert and crystal castle? http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/hal...rk/DSCF0069.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/hal...rk/DSCF0067.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/hal...rk/DSCF0066.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/hal...rk/DSCF0065.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/hal...rk/DSCF0061.jpg Anyway ignoring the sarcasm :P, here are the pics of Loken so far, ive decided to go with having him helmeted and ive left the seals on the right shoulder. the green stuff around the waist is going to be a leather belt and is what his clip pouch and scabbard are attached to. Still not sure about the scabbard but im using the scout one in these pics as it is just the right length to fit over the chainsword blade ( the idea being that the blades retract in to the sword while its turned off). If i decide against it then ill just add grenades to the belt or something. any ideas on the scabbard and head crest would be appreciated, as would ideas for the join between the front armour plate and the belt ends. Thanks in advance, C&C is welcome! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/page/3/#findComment-1035322 Share on other sites
Rau le Creuset
Sorry I don't like the idea of the scabbard at all. Looks ridiculously small in comparision to the sword. At first I thought the scabbard was for the, often mentioned, combat knife Loken seems to use, why don't you add a knife hilt ? Therefore you would have to shorten the scabbard, but I think it would look good. The rest is very promising, except that the base and the miniature don't fit together (although the base looks fantastic) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/page/3/#findComment-1035345 Share on other sites
TheHalifax
Well the Scabbard is meant to cover the blade, not the motor, and it does, however im still looking for alternatives. Plus chainswords look cooler than power knifes IMO, and where does Loken use them? I honestly cant remember? i'll try and have pics up of base B tomorrow which is still being Gs'ed atm. How come you dont think the base fits? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/page/3/#findComment-1035358 Share on other sites
Rau le Creuset
The blade is still longer than the scabbard (or at least it looks like this) and the idea that the teeth retract sounds odd. I haven't read the book, so I can only rely on the comment from another user. By the way, I said you should use the scabbard for the combat knife and keep the chainsword, not to drop the chainsword. Great books, great model. Looks pretty good dude, it would be cool to see him with his combat knife out, hes often in the thick of it biggrin.gif. Hmm an urban or battlefield base would imo be more fitting. Can't really say why I think it doesn't fit, sorry  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/89593-captain-garviel-loken/page/3/#findComment-1035396 Share on other sites
Artekus
Damn cool model! Loken rulez :) Now you got me all tempted to make a Lucius on Murder with a Megarachnid talon and his sword... must get my book back first for details... Anyhow, keep up the good work! Raejin99
No purity seals pre-heresy. Purity seals are given by the eclessiarchy, and if we go by Horus Rising, there was no worship of the emperor until after the heresy. Unless of course, you intend them to be the Oath thingy. Vashiel
They would be oaths of moment in the Luna Wolves. And BTW, the Word Bearers wore very purityseal-like things on their armour, but IIRC they had scripture from the Book of Lorgar on.
