Commander Biguss Brutus Posted June 19, 2006 Share Posted June 19, 2006 I love the idea with this, I tried it myself with metal scouts and gave up after 2 because it was such a pain for me without the tools, They look great to me but one thing I'd suggest if you want to try to avoid some of the "looks like guard comments" is to try to greenstuff structures on the helmet similar to the ones marines have around the back of the head and the vent thingy on top. looks great to me though, bolt pistols look great without the silencers too great stuff Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Brother Gothard Posted June 19, 2006 Share Posted June 19, 2006 Those scouts look amazing! But I agree, initially they do look more like special forces Imperial Guardsmen than scouts. But the idea of the helmets is a good one. This has seriously got me thinking about how to alternatively model scouts to do away with the fat necks. The helmets make sense, because only a fool goes to war with his melon exposed. But they DO look too much like IG. What about gask masks ala Steel Legion troopers instead? That would be hard to do, but might be worth a try. I think you'd have to probably sculpt the masks on, because it would get expensive to use Steel Legion trooper heads for all your scouts. I think some more detail work needs to be put into the helmets as they stick out as semi Guard looking. -Q- Posted June 19, 2006 Share Posted June 19, 2006 I like helmets on Scouts. I put shaved Marine helmets on mine. I figure the helmets won't need all the powered stuff a full Marine would but they'd still have some amount of breath filters and targeting junk. Once yours are painted up they'll look great. In the context of a full army there will be no confusion about Marine vs Guard, it's just a byproduct of raw plastics. One recommendation would be to shape the bottom of the helmets to have a bit more curve. The straight end to them makes them look a little odd.
