Starks333
could just be the photo as it often is but the red looks a lot less highlighted than the blue is, also that mushroom just looks solid red, and is quite distracting as well i personally like subtle/dull highlights on the leathers, but subtle/dull cost me first place, so you may want to consider that the skulls look like the could be blended better and i cant see the metal to comment on it Starks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91232-knights-vermilion-warpstone-entry/#findComment-1048986 Share on other sites
DavidKits
Wow man I saw this at Conflict Calgary I didn't get to put my chaplain in as I had hoped but It was great to see that you won from the looks of things *give syou a thumbs up and claps* at least I think you won it looked like you had a big trophy behind your model when the WHite dwarf guy was doing his pictures. Grey Knight
Thanks for all the comments, the emperor's champion did indeed win, In the 40k single mini, this was in neophytes :D anyway conflict was great, especially ascension to power, this picture is crap, i literally took it 2 minutes before i left, hopefully proper ones will be up soon, the shroom isn't actually solid red. The reason some of the highlights are harsh is because i left this to the last 2 days ^_^ my other one turned out crap so i trashed it, the bone turned out sub par and the metal also wasn't all that good. DavidKits, if you wish please feel free to post your chaplain(i always love seeing well painted minis :P ). by the way, the 40k single mini and large mini entries simply WOWED me  i literally spent at least haf a hour going to the warpstone booth and looking at them, especially Angela Imrie's entries, and th word bearer tank, those things where amazing. and about the mushroom, I have never wondered that, although i would personally feel scared to eat a red and white mushroom -_- edit: the reason for shrooms is cause it's like my signature, my games day entry(which didn't place) had shrooms too :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91232-knights-vermilion-warpstone-entry/#findComment-1049326 Share on other sites

Grey Knight
Alas i fear that next year i will not be entwering neophytes(will be 15 by then) and I'm thinking i might build something crazy for the open competition, and probably 40k single too. anyway, new pictures as promised http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/pointy_stick/DSC06495.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/pointy_stick/DSC06496.jpg (see? the mushroom isn't all solid :D i wouldn't call it well highlighted though) http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/pointy_stick/DSC06498.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/pointy_stick/DSC06499.jpg and a close up, so all the mistakes are visible :P http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/pointy_stick/DSC06500.jpg the eyes are actually done, but you can't see them in these photos http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/pointy_stick/DSC06497.jpg (the right arm, above the glove, was green stuffed) the eyes are actually done, but you can't see them in these photos ok, the update is done, this mini will now sit in front of it's trophy on my "random crap" shelf, beside last year's Grey Knight(I'm also happy to announce they got my name right this year :D ) I have an explanation for why the powerfist looks like it's blended more, it's feathering from ice blue to enchanted blue, just straight feathering... I must also agree that Angela Imrie "swept the board", it was a pleasure seeing all those amazing minis. also, Exquisite Evil, which entry was yours?( i spent so much time at the warpstone booth I'll probably remeber it, there where some really great things in fantasy single, seemed like the best turn out) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91232-knights-vermilion-warpstone-entry/#findComment-1049642 Share on other sites
death given form
Nice model, though the paint looks a little thick on the right arm (i.e. shouldger pad, gauntlet). It could just be the pictures though. Grey Knight
Sure does, it's just the metal on that mini looks so good, especially in person, very smooth and all, and good metal can be harder to do than NMM. Grey Knight
ok, I'm VERY sorry for the double post but the pictures from conflict calgary are up and i thought I'd post the ones of my mini http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/pointy_stick/Neo1stAz.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/pointy_stick/Neo1stbz.jpg the metal is clearer now, probably cause a professional photographer took it, mr.hukish it was. anyway could anyone help me improve my metallics?
