Havock
Well, at least I started, taht's a good sign. Anyway, I was bored of the sucky paintjob and them not looking like proper black dragons. here ya go: old: http://members.lycos.nl/durandalarw/40k/M_oud.JPG new: http://members.lycos.nl/durandalarw/40k/M_nieuw.JPG And a vet sarge/commander who is a bit closer to finishing since I took that picture: http://members.lycos.nl/durandalarw/40k/cappy_wip.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91609-so-i-have-begun-to-repaint-my-black-dragons/ Share on other sites

Havock
It would probably just look out of place on him, I'd most likely use him as my commander, or something. Perhaps a cursed knight d00d  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91609-so-i-have-begun-to-repaint-my-black-dragons/#findComment-1052728 Share on other sites
Havock
there you go  http://members.lycos.nl/durandalarw/40k/A_Flamer.JPG At first, I thugh cutting each blade out of plasticard "manually" looked silly, now, I see that it gives each blade enough distinction that it looks like a mutation that has been used in battle, chipped and filed. /forgetting the picture is silly. Havock
it has been fixed. Had a "painting accident" yesterday. Cpt_Tiberius
Yay Black Dragons! I like the guy with the big wings on his chest. What parts did you use for him? As for the painting, the only thing I would fix is to make the highlights thinner and sharper and to tighten up the chapter badge. Can't wait to see more. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/91609-so-i-have-begun-to-repaint-my-black-dragons/#findComment-1053979 Share on other sites
Havock
I'm still getting used to tamiya paint, it's alcohol based acryllic paint think, takes a bit different mixtures, it also dries up like mad! Havock
Update: http://members.lycos.nl/durandalarw/40k/TrueDC.JPG http://members.lycos.nl/durandalarw/40k/TrueDC2.JPG http://members.lycos.nl/durandalarw/40k/TrueDC3.JPG Okay, it's very WiP, but it gives a nice idea of how I want to do my "assault marines redux", less clean, including the black. I am going for a matte, "stealthish" black rather than the shiny "templar" black. Any suggestions/opinions? Solamus
Nice models. :) I especially like that flaming power sword and your flesh painting with the spurs. Havock
The flaming sword? A tutorial? It's really not that hard, layer/blend in this order: scorched brown scab red red gore blood red fiery orange bad moon yellow bleached bone skull white I suppose a different orange or yellow won't really matter, but bad moon is nicely bright and fiery orange is pretty "strong". Now, when you are at yellow, don't go to white, go to bleached bone first, skull white is "flat", bleached bone is "warm", don't be afraid if you see some stripes or a less subtle difference between layers on some spots, it makes it look more like fire instead of a smooth lightsaber-esque effect. And yes, I used catachan blades.
