The Bolter Conversion Thread

Recommended Posts

Ya, you are right. When everything was just tacked together and there was no shoulder pad it looked good, but once I put it him together with the shoulder pads and tilted the bolter to get him looking into the scope it just didn't look good any more.

Kanan,

what are you using for the barrels? The lase scopes look a little big on the bolters. maybe if you trim them dow n a bit it might work better.

Ardus.

Ardus, i thought so ~grins~. anyways the barrels are from johnson & johnson cotton buds. they are the only brand to use as other companies use a different kind of shaft made up of either a very flimsy solid plastic rod or an equally bad, plastic tube which doesnt glue well and drops off after a day or so lol. i have posted a pic to show you clearly what i am talking about.

oh and the laser scope is in fact meant to be a starlight scope but maybe i will take your advice and trim the next one back a bit. thanks for the help mate.

Chopped this one up tonight. Just an idea that's been floating in my head for a while that finally got to see the light of day. It's a Gears of War style Close Combat Bolter.

Thoughts comments and suggestions are welcome. It's still pretty WIP of course and rather rough around the edges, but it gets the idea across ;).

I like your cc bolter very much, Gray-Death. Have to try something like that on my templars. I only might try to move the chainsword a bit up so that it looks as if the chain could run into the bolter casing.

Yeah that's my plan as well. I'm going to toy around with this some more and share the results as I get more completed.

For once this is a well timed bit of thread-o-mancy - read the topic an hour ago, went and chopped up some cadian Grenade launchers and now have 3 drum fed bolters for Ferrus's finest

Dead easy conversion and a good looking one to! Maybe this thread should be cleaned up (i.e. all links and pics together) and then stickied? This is the only topic I've read since I joined the board (in 2002) that made me physically get up and go and try converting!! :P

And for that, I salute whoever resurrected this thread!

Anyone got any ideas as to how to make pre-heresy style bolters? I need it for some pre-heresy Dark Angels I am working on.

Try this one:

found in this thread: (this isn't my work BTW)

I believe he started with a combi-melta, chopped off the melta barrel, chopped off the heatshield from a flamer, then atached it to the place the melta barrel is.

Nice, simple, and streamlined if you ask me.
