hermanista
Hello, So to continue trying to continue my progress on my Knight household, I thought I'd pop a blog here to show them off and to improve my enthusiasm. It's a fairly big house so far, with most built, some painted and some still in pre-fab status. So far then Knight Styrix - Finished Knight Crusader/Maegera - Finished 4x Armiger Warglaives - Finished 2x Knight Lancer - Painting in Progress Light Atrapos - Painting in Progress 2x Helverin - Built Castellan - Built and Basecoated Silver Valiant - Built and Basecoated Silver 2x Gallant - Built and Basecoated Silver Gallant - on sprue Porphoryion - in box So there's a lot of work to go, especially as I have the GT heat 3 in December to prep for along with some other local tournaments before and after. I've also got the standard 32 men of the Imperium - converted from Cawdor models to do if I go that route in the GT. So this in my progress log, and without further ado, some pictures! hermanista
It's been a while but I've slowly been unwavering away, with one of the Lancers now being up to this stage. Loads to go still, but it's getting there slowly, GT Heat 3 a week on Saturday... hermanista
Cheers. Few more to go on the shins tonight, seal them in and then obliterate them with highlights and weathering Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350533-the-knights-of-ni-mechanicus-knights/#findComment-5200275 Share on other sites

hermanista
Where is the shrubbery? I'm running the first North Wales Open 40k event for 50 players in Feb, there will be plenty of shrubberies on the way! ;-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350533-the-knights-of-ni-mechanicus-knights/#findComment-5200432 Share on other sites

Canadian_F_H
Fantastic paintjobs! I hope I can do my own knights justice when I get that far... (slowly getting set up for airbrushing... Gonna need to practice and study some techniques!) hermanista
@Fajita Fan It was just a comedy name at first, but the hashtag works on Twitter so it stuck, lol. @Bjorn Cheers buddy, loads to do still, but I'm still enjoying it which is a massive positive. Downtime is I've got to get the other Cerastus knights in my collection to match. @Canadian Thank you. Practice makes perfect I guess. I watched a few videos on YouTube and then just played about with it. The Cerastus is definitely an improvement on my Armigers though. hermanista
Managed the two household icons last night. Just one shin to go this evening now and then onto the next phase. hermanista
So here we go, All decals in place and I'm happy with their arrangement. Tomorrow night starts the real difficult yet fun part, bedding them in with highlighting, battle damage and weathering. What do folks think? Too much? Too little? About right? DuskRaider
I love it, brother. Great attention to detail and I admire your patience with transfers. I wish my Knights could battle these. hermanista
@DuskRaider One day we may face off, lol. So Im trying lots of new techniques with thist one, what with it being the army warlord n'all. Tonight's new thing - enamel washes. Picture overload incoming... Honest criticism time, what do we think brothers and sisters? hermanista
Just realised, there is a mix up pics wise, some before and after on the gold of the carapace. The ones with a head on are where he's currently at, with the gloss of the gold covered over with the weathered gold look. DuskRaider
I really like the weathering, it's subtle enough to where it doesn't detract from the scheme but enhances it. One question, are you picking out the Aquila at all to differentiate it from the gold trim? Even just a little oxidation would probably do the trick. And alas, we are separated by an ocean. I don't see that match coming anytime soon Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350533-the-knights-of-ni-mechanicus-knights/#findComment-5202481 Share on other sites
hermanista
Aye, the verdigris, rust dust and other highlights are still to come. hermanista
@STC Logisengine Cheers, still more work to do, but I'm definitely enjoying the process. Hand a (k)night off from painting this evening, tidying in preparation for the little uns first birthday party on Sunday. But I did manage a group shot. Still stuff to do - Lance Ion shield The Styrix needs the claw off and an avenger gatling cannon added. Paint the lancer base Hope the replacement Armiger bases arrive in time, then paint them. Paint the various lenses and fine details on the lancer Bit of battle damage on the two crusaders Then attack the lot with weathering powders to unify them. Should finish before the actual event, might even be able to get a game in to practice with the list Nice to do a group shot though. hermanista
S I managed to get some tidy to blitz the hobby room today for the first time in months. Also meant a chance to get better photos in daylight for the force I'm taking to the GT at the weekend. Still loads to do, but a good chance to see them all together and work out what will unify them more. What do we think? And a very clear painting space. hermanista
Will be having a break after these are done and the weekend is over, but I'll definitely be coming back to finish the other Lancer and my Atrapos. So another night, another few hours of work. Obviously when painting a big gold and red robot - Iron man 2 had to come out for viewing. Earning this Lancer the name "Ferrous Vir" - Iron Man :-) Obviously folks will be getting sick of wips soon, if not already. Trust me, we're almost there. Tomorrow is hopefully bases if they arrive, and then details and final touch ups. Maybe done tomorrow if I'm lucky! So pictures then. Also, I need names for the other 4 I think Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350533-the-knights-of-ni-mechanicus-knights/#findComment-5206713 Share on other sites

MadGreek
OK, first, beautiful models, paintwork, decals, etc. But come on, with that name, and NOT ONE SHRUBBERY on any base?
