how about mountign the weapons mount on the mysterious plate itself, and using a magnetic base for the salamander platform. that way you can add any stowage/crew/whatever, incl guns by simply putting magnets in the bottom of the crates/feet/whatever?- 671 replies

today i inked the whole model, and finished up the detailing and freehand. only the base is left to be finished now. I'm especially pleased with how the freehand skulls came out! http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/Mobile%20Uploads/20150514_150424_zpst8kkgxsx.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/Mobile%20Uploads/20150514_150328_zpsyadlbv99.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/Mobile%20Uploads/20150514_150310_zpskvd3o9gu.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/Mobile%20Uploads/20150514_150239_zpsads3gaix.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/Mobile%20Uploads/20150514_150226_zpsgp37miku.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/Mobile%20Uploads/20150514_150215_zpseg9th1up.jpg

well for me the only reason for magnetisation was transport, as it'll just be cheaper to pick up another knight, than to try and make this ine an all rounder cerastus one. (plus the others have way better looking helmets anyway!). do post it though, you might never know who will need it ;) anyway, i made some significant progress today! http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150513_234650_zpsipnxutva.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150513_234659_zpsntpvsohh.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150513_234705_zpsdms1it9c.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150513_234716_zpsjljcrmhq.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150513_231420_zpsobay4zym.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150513_231508_zpsvh6wrim1.jpg

here's where i got today, thanks to kilofix his plans! the pose required some heavy alternation of the flamer feed, which unfortunatly broke during the build. therefor it got replaced by some actuall tubing. anyway, on to pictures, as we all know those are what counts! http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150511_214624_zpsvlsu398z.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150511_214700_zpsqn4rjnup.jpg I also had to add a greenstuff ring, as the resin turned out to be too heavy for just the magnets. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150511_214721_zpsaa8gg83u.jpg

not being patiently enough to wait on immersturms tutorial on how to build a cerastus knight i already went ahead and build some stuff, of which i was certain no magnetisation etc would be needed. fortunatly i ran out of superglue, forcing me to wait for the tutorial anyway! ;) anyway, here are the results: boy is this thing BIG! absolutly love it! kind of makes me feel the normal knights are a bit on the small side..., though i have yet to see one in person. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150510_232140_zpskolqetcl.jpg basing, to be added: flocked grass, and some overrun bushes. the barrels etc will be painted as if they've been there for quite a while. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150510_232203_zpsykf4wjqq.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150510_232232_zpsid8f2cnj.jpg pose i inted it to be in, with the head and flamer lookign straight to you. i think the smaller baseside as a front will be mor eusefull to manouvre it through dense terrain. could be wrong though. the torso is attached to the legs via 3 magnets http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150510_232221_zps6zbojaxl.jpg

I'm actually part of an international jousting group, called stichting HEI: we recently started delving into the 13th century and last weekend did our first 13th century show: (just ignore the non historical beginning)this is what inspired me to use the codex manesse as inspiration for a knight, given how much the 40k knights are based on the high medieval period. it also allowed me to field something more original than just another house terryn or whatever knight... the build will definetly take its time, as during the unpacking it became clear the pauldrons got damaged during transport, and pieces of their reinforments broke off. the question is if i'll now try to repair them using plasticard and greenstuff, or destroy them even more, representing damage inflicted upon the knight. not to mention the usual bending in some resin pieces. not that i would dare to complain, given how cheap i picked this one up! I also managed to forget to get a jar of leadbelcher metal today at the LGS so will need to head back there. (their gamecolor paints on sale at half the price distracted me too much...) Immersturm, i'm definetly looking forward to your magnetisation tutorial!

Today my cerastus titan finally arrived, however it didn't include any building instructions. I've found some instructions here: http://smallworldminis.blogspot.be/2014/10/assembly-cerastus-knight-castigator.html but would care to hear everyones advice to keep in mind. I inted to magnetize him so all tips on that are much appreciated! last but not least, the concept art for herzog heinrich van anhalt, and the original painting on whom he'll be based: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150502_161641_zpslldioljw.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/1d/Codex_Manesse_%28Herzog%29_von_Anhalt.jpg/640px-Codex_Manesse_%28Herzog%29_von_Anhalt.jpg

A new Knight House - Choice of Heraldry
hendrik replied to Frater Cornelius's topic in + IMPERIAL KNIGHTS +
what decides a house is mainly the heraldry, though colours can offcourse help too. what part of the fluff makes them house cadmus? are they also beast hunters? I know from previous posts you're a space wolf player (or at least used to be), so how about using some wolf related heraldry instead of the goat and eagle? you could even use actual fenrisian wolves head cut in half as decorative chest pieces. being green doesn't make your house automatically house cadmus... I've been doing some quick tests for my own acheron and settled on something like this: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/amorfatipictures/20150502_161641_zpslldioljw.jpg Sure, it shares a lot of similarities with house terryn, but it's actually based on Count Henry I Von Anhalte, from the manesse codex (the bloke kicking butts in the middle), and used enough differences in heraldry to IMO make it clearly not belonging to house Terryn: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1d/Codex_Manesse_%28Herzog%29_von_Anhalt.jpg what makes house cadmus house cadmus is the heraldry, and the typical yellow/black, and green/black shoulderpads. by just changing that, and using clearly different heraldry you should be able to differentiate enough -

that alternative faceplate looks ace! shame the cerastus faceplaces already come attached to the heads! -
A new Knight House - Choice of Heraldry
hendrik replied to Frater Cornelius's topic in + IMPERIAL KNIGHTS +
i suggested it due to the amount of heraldry depicted in it, as even though your coloursheme might have already been decided, knight do use a fair bit of heraldry on them, which this book contains tons off. for example the heinrich von breslau heraldry could match well witht he greens you've suggested, the eagle either staying more knightly, or becoming a standardized imperial version: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/54/Codex_Manesse_Heinrich_von_Breslau.jpg -

how about basing yourself on some real historical knight houses, found in the codex manesse? http://digi.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/diglit/cpg848 -

I just ordered a knight acheron for cheap, and am really happy this topic confirms my thoughts that this is indeed the best variant. what really sold me was the fact that he still has a twin linked heavy bolter that he can use to shoot other targets so he can charge these, thus not suffering from annihilating whatever he flames

The 339th Armageddon Steel Legion "The Iron Heads" WIP
hendrik replied to steellegionnaire85's topic in + ASTRA MILITARUM +
you don't have to stick to a single sheme! armageddon has seen plenty of wars, and a multitude of different regiments working together. In fact, an army consisting of vehicles and infantry would in most cases (assuming othodox regiment guidelines) be two different regiments fighting together anyway! sure they can all be steel legion, but there's nothing stopping you to make all those russes belong to another regiment! you could use simple things like a campaign badge to help and tie them all together, but it's not needed fluffwise!
