  1. They already did this with a couple of the Forge World dreadnought models for the Custodes. The Telemon is the best example of this. They even specified the size before, but that no longer seems to be on the page.
  2. You're mistaken the army rule (which is the Martial Ka'tah) and the detachment rule. The latter is currently less useful due to the devastating wounds change, whereas the army rule hasn't changed. I realise it feels pedantic, but it also means that a codex will give room for different detachment rules to shine. Doesn't mean Shield Host might not remain the same. That said, getting a lot of points increases gives more room for other units to perhaps shine. Bertus Praetors got cheaper and add a lot of mobility, as do Venatarii. I do hope they take a good look at some of the dreads and the Aquilon terminators. I love those models and they feel severely lacking at the moment. Same for the Sagitarum and Pyrithite and Adrasite spears. Those guys really don't need to be more expensive then regular guards.
  3. I personally am OK with the changes to towering, as it does require some more mobility in list building. The small points increase on Armigers is fine too and hardly noticeable in an army consisting of units that cost 400 points each. The bondsman abilities less so. It absolutely neuters it in both power and to me, even worse, flavour. It feels like another experienced Knight teaching his squire how to do a certain action, which is completely missing now. The big Knights themselves are now less powerful, which might be needed due to them being difficult to kill, so I'm sort of OK with that, but wished they had found a more elegant solution here. The stratagems are also a cut too far. Increasing the costs would have made more sense, so you'd have to be a bit more picky if you wanted to use it in favour of perhaps using tank shock on two Knights (if you had a Lancer). I reckon Knights will still be at around 50% though, since they're just tough cookies. I'm just a bit sad about the flavour fail that now is the Bondsman abilities.
  4. If he's bringing mainly wardogs, you might be OK, as it's the toughness of the knights that pushes them over the top for most armies. It's not going to change much for Custodes, as you'll wound on 5's with your melee most of the time against both Wardogs and big Knights. They are a lot more mobile though, so going for objectives is going to be a bit more challenging. That said, Knights are tough to balance due to their toughness and wounds. They are either too hard to kill, or die too easily. His edition, they fall into the former, which eaves you to try and engage them on your terms and having to play the strategy game. Get into melee as soon as you can (Blade Champions are good anyway) and use your stances to your advantage. I reckon Custodes have the best chance die to their survivability and relatively high strength, so now em down
  5. I was building some Allarus and Wardens today. Something to take into account (which I wasn't 100% sure about) is that the plume is on top of the armor's carapace and not on the head itself. If that's for you to make it stand out, then it'll work!
  6. @Toxichobbit appreciate the write up! I do hope the CU, if that starts to form, for Warhammer stays a bit in its lane. One of the things that I imagine a lot of people also enjoy about the hobby is creating their own stories. Having everything fleshed out in series and films could limit creativity
  7. It is an amazing model and I'm sure you'll do the paintjob justice! I was also contemplating getting a Falchion, Fellblade or Glaive (which I know doesn't have rules, but it just looks so freaking cool), but with the move to legends, they lost that sale. Good for the wallet, which will now have to wait until the Lancer and Castigator Knights land How are you going to paint it? Greenwing or 30k old skyle with a lot of weathering?
  8. Indeed, they may have swung a bit too far to the other end. The 'easiest' solution is lethal hits or anti-vehicle against Knights. The lethal hits work against any target. Anti vehicle not so much, of course. I think you may just need to play the objective game as much as possible against Knights, since they are relatively slow and cumbersome around cover due to their base sizes. Scoring against vehicle heavy lists is pretty similar and even easier due to their even lower OC.
  9. Current challenge is they committed to the higher toughness, which will be hard to reverse. They can change stats in the codices, but those will come incrementally, which could give you weird balancing issues between releases again. I'm sure there will be new rules for Knights in the codex, but that won't address the challenges opponents face with the high toughness Knights have, unless they change that stat specifically.
  10. I agree. You can easily invalidate about 60%+ from an armies shooting by just showing up with Imperial Knights, due to the higher toughness on all models. Whilst it's great for Knights, it's not great for the game as a whole. Knights are just an odd army to balance in that regard.
  11. "The amount of re-rolls has been reduced" was one of the first things they said. They immediately showed off oath of moment. Eldar gets theirs as a detachment rule, but boy howdy is it still strong. They had best come up with some great alternatives to counteract this detachment rule, to get people to play different ones when the codex drops. Re-rolls get more important with less shots. The bigger the hit, the more it sucks when you don't get the hit, which is where the re-rolls shine. Getting them on every unit is just busted as can be. And if you REALLY need that wound, a fate dice will work, always. The combination of the two is where it gets over the top, really and where you can really cripple an army FAST. Glad to see they reined in on the fate dice though, so it's less easy to just cripple the anti-whatever it is you brought which will mainly be anti-vehicle so they can't kill your D-canon platforms. The things that seem most egregious so far are this and the units that keep coming back. It feels like cheating points costs and without the cost for weapon options, this gets a little more over the top as well. I do hope they will tweak rules in codices, but as I stated before, the points cost and separate model cost will not be re-implemented before the next edition I'm afraid, and that's a pair of tuning options they miss now.
  12. Which does require them to keep the current player base happy. A business plan of making losses for 10 years with the promise of making a profit in 10 isn't something a bank or investors will generally jump on
  13. My mum always said the same about me and being worse at remembering Warhammer rules and remembering my French schoolwork It really is just interest at that point. I couldn't give a hoot about French then, everything I did or read was either English or native. Now, when visiting France every so often, it would have been handy, but teacher telling me there was regularity in irregular verbs didn't gel with my logic
  14. One would hope GW can keep track of the sales other stores make as well and not just base their numbers on their store alone. If so, that would imply gross incompetence. I'm also not buying the story. Most parents that do not play the game will encourage their kids to spend money on overpriced plastic. I started when I was 14 in 2nd edition (with mainly metal models) and bought my own stuff. I did quit a year or two later, but at that time, my mum thought I was an idiot for spending that much.
  15. Henry Cavill is working on some stuff I think, especially since his Witcher got abhorred
