Index 40k - Space Marines - Faction & Gladius Detachment Rules

Oath of Moment If your Army Faction is ADEPTUS ASTARTES, at the start of your Command phase, select one unit from your army and one unit from your opponent’s army. Until the start of your next Command phase, each time a model from the unit (from your army) you chose makes an attack that targets the enemy unit your chose, you can re-roll the Hit roll and you can re-roll the Wound roll. Design Note Some units have rules which state (hopefully in consistent language along the lines of “Whe

Dialing in the Green

My Death Guard transfer sheet finally came in! A bit of consideration while staring holes at the transfer sheet, then making uncomfortable amounts of eye contact the Black Books, then the being real happy strangers couldn't see me examining their Death Guard in detail over internet, I came to the decision that I had to lighten up the Castellan Green. I mixed in a bit of Pro Acryl Olive Flesh.   Central is just Castellan Green, the left and right are the lighter version. They'll end up

Finishing up the modeling for a Chaplain

I did some work today on cleaning some parts, tentative list building, and getting Chaplain Gerud Vahlas, the Witch-Breaker, ready for priming. The gap on the right pauldron/cloak portion is because they're held on with poster tac. I'm going to paint the cape and power pack separate from the rest of the model. The Death Guard are more about function than frippery, but with the recent praetor reveals I felt okay with including a cape. It also made it easier on me, because I think I'm ou

Oil Weathering and Oil-Pens (9/23/22)

Weathering and trick technique, do they work? Before (black oil wash with sediment on base colors): After: Woo, it worked! Ahem. I was buying pens the other day and saw there were oil-based Sharpies. This reminded me of something I had heard about using markers to do the trim work on Chaos models (particularly Heldrakes). So I picked up a gold one because Death Guard love their brass and the actual brass marker was really dark. I'll do a little h

Grave Wardens Modeling Done (9/1/22)

Next, going to lay down some paint on the Tactical Squad. It's going to be most of the pre-oil wash steps. The problem is that I was going to order the Death Guard decal sheet along with the energy heavy weapon kit. However, it wasn't released as an immediate follow up to launch. Now the decal sheet is out of stock. It's not a big deal. This is going to mostly be figuring out if I need to keep the bolters separate from the arms for painting. Once I figure that out, I can assemble more infantry.

A hose by any other name, penultimate Grave Warden modelling update (8/26/22)

My second to last major project was Astra Militarum and I have a lot of infantry special weapons left over (as evidenced by the grenade launchers). Each flamer tank is good for two terminators. A modelling or jeweler's saw to get a clean cut in half, remove the little curving bit which would sit on the Guardsman's shoulder, clean mold lines, then slightly file down the end that will be facing the power fist side. You'll notice there's a triangular side. This is perfect for fitting into

Grave Wardens Almost Done (8/22/22)

Let's see how the whole blog thing goes. In my last WIP update, I had done some GS work. I've done more. I used a template for chainmail to get the pattern and placed it over the stripped down leather strips. Once dry, any excess was removed. The inner shoulder pads were dry-fitted and glued into place. This gave me all I needed to assemble the bodies (Mk6 included for scale). I'm a bit annoyed at myself for the one on the far left. I didn't realize that one arm wen
