My Guards needed to be special but without being Sanguinary guard models with too many blood Angel references. So I used the Armageddon jump Vanguard vets but gave them spears and “fancier” helmets. I also liked the standout gold look pf the SG (although gold wouldn’t be my favourite choice) so thought about silver. Problem was I had painted myself into a corner (pun intended) by saying my chapter don’t do shiny things. To those end, and in fitting with my theme, I thought the most senior me
Well, this was an “adventure”. I wanted my specialist units to have a more Grey Knights vibe. So I searched the interwebs and found a suitable looking helmet. They were described as Diesel punk Sallet heads for Arcamundi. I had no idea what that was but assumed it was 28mm scale. On arrival they were too small. They are 28mm but I’m guessing the whole Primaris thing…
So I got to measuring them and found that they were about a mm too small. This worked out at 20%. I spoke to the make
Having started the painting vow before 11th edition dropped I wanted to create some of the old Space Marine Combat Patrols using a handful of models. I have now completed that vow and will move on to the next, which will add models that will make up the new Assault Force and Blood Angels patrols.
After that I will consider adding my unbuilt Impulsor and Dreadnought.
When painting the Dreadnought I’m unsure as to wether I should paint it like a large Space Marine (i.e. in the sa
To crowbar my chapter into a non Blood Angels, BA codex chapter I’m creating characters to fit the skills, weapons and abilities of the BA Characters…

“For many years, I have fought and I have seen the disorganisation in our galaxy. I have seen the vileness of the alien and the heresy of the desecrator. I have witnessed the sin of selfishness. I have seen all the evil that the galaxy harbours, and I have slain all whose presence defiles th
“Student brother”, Trainees in the Cult of Garro who form the Battle lines in various roles (Intercessors, Assault Intercessors and assault marines with Jump packs). Student Brothers are capable of falling to a (black) “righteous rage” and going berserk. To this end a unit must be attached to a Chaplain known as “Oshō”.
“Unsui” are those student brothers who have proven themselves time and again both battle and in personal discipline to not fall into the righteous rage of the student brot
“A bit of the old Razzle Dazzle…”
said by no one in the history of 40k ever.
The chapters colours are grey and lavender.
Now there seems to be a precedent that Space marines don’t do camouflage because it is cowardly and they want to be seen coming to strike fear into their enemies. I respect that for their armour.
I’ve looked at two colour Impulsors as an example and they’re all a bit samey and meh.
Now, I’ve been thinking…no one, not even a space marine wants to di
“You are Astartes indeed, and that will never alter. But you are a Death Guard no longer. You are a ghost, a figure that stands between light and dark, trapped amid the grey. And I have need of such a man.”

At this present time, being new to the hobby, my friend and I only have the time and sufficient grasp of the rules to play Combat Patrol. However, with an eye to the future, should we ever get used to the rules, I’m hopeful we can fit an incursion scale conflict in. So, bitten by the bug, I increased my number of models and had the realisation that I could make several of the 10th edition Combat Patrols with them.
I had previously painted them as Crour blades (I thought blood Angels sound
