About this blog

A while back I had started a small Crimson Fist force for GW store event based on the Battle at the Farm mission that was re-released for 10th edition. I just loved the idea of making an army that had that RT Era look using Horus Heresy Minis. Over time it became a 10e army. But eventually it became 2e army after playing a running campaign with a friend that is doing a retro orc army.
I have been slowly posting pics in the gallery for a while but figured I should do a blog instead.

Retro Style Razorback

Modification on a previous work. Changed the Razorback weapons to match the more classic loadout. Was not sure how to do the dual plasma gun. After looking around found the HH Game has two dual plasma gun bitz. The dreadnought plasma gun for inside the power fist, which was only the barrel, and the terminator plasma caster. Went with the plasma caster, chopped off the spare lascannon's connector and attached to the plasma caster. Kind of wish it was a little bigger but it works. Feedback is welc

Squad 02 - Terminators

Terminator Squad Storm Bolters

The rest of the squad. I had learned some from the tactical squad mistakes. They have some highlighting, though I could of done more I find it kind of tedious. Also managed to varnish the models better. The resin should pads with the chapter symbol I had planned to use were for an older model of terminator and did not fit the new ones. I had tried reshaping the resin shoulder pads but they were to small. Tried green stuff but looked awful. So I just did transfers. I found I prefer the look of th
Squad 01 - Tactical

Tactical Squad Troopers

The Boltgun wielders of the squad. I had not realize I built and painted two marines exactly the same until these final photos. Only difference is the base grass. The varnish is a bit off. I had used to much of a satin varnish making them look to shiny. Tried to off set it with a dull varnish which made them look rougher and faded. Also makes the light weird when photographing them. But I was not going to redo the entire squad, at least no time soon.

Tactical Squad Sgt

Had to completely strip and repaint the model after a rather horrible varnishing incident. Gave him the older mk 4 power sword as it had a more RT tech look than the more gothic looking power swords. Also gave him a wrist mounted bolt pistol from a blood angels kit, to make him look more like the cover art on RT book.
