U.F.O. 2 - Look who's coming for dinner

Hi folks,

Remember this Unidentified Flying Object?:

Well, after years waiting to receive some care and attention, it has been sentenced to paint. Kudo to Jokaero Painting Challenge…

I went for a black and yellow scheme, at least for the Rokkits and the oversized chaincleaver. Because at this size it ain’t choppa nor chainsword anymore, is it? And the banner for this article fits the scheme too, did you notice? Such a sense of detail… Because it is better getting sense of detail in Blog editing than on painting of a model that essentially received a big fat drybrush. And that’s (almost) all. Almost as I still struggle with yellow. Which led me to the usual dirty splashy yellow and not to the clean finish I aimed at initially. Just imagine that it was (supposed) to be inspired by the Votann’s Kronus Hegemony scheme; see the result? Not that aligned with expectations. But I managed having some yellow.

So here comes the crime against Votanns: a smash space dwarf with oversized jump pack and the biggest choppa I could have modeled from ooP plastic Ork sprues.

Personalization went up to adding a smoky plume at exhaust (made out of steel whool - just in case you wondered about this dirty stuff behing the rokkits). It was far better looking BEFORE being glued. As it looks like it collapsed. It would have required a guiding stem inside the whool, pinned into the rokkit.

But I will correct that in a couple of years , next time I will release this model from its storage box where it came from and where it has returned already.

See you when I will have something more traditional to share.

I love your dwarf and your persistence!

The wool is demonstrating how much lift those rokkits are providing

I want to run that scheme for my squad, er, Votann but I'm going to try the underpainting with brown and pink methods before committing in the hope that I can get some decent coverage.

I really like the AP Fanatic Moonbeam Yellow but it still took a few coats over white.

So Awesome! Out of curiosity why steel wool over cotton, it works with the steel wool.

Steel whool maintain it's aspect overall time while Cotton tend to age badly.  And Cotton can be easily soaked up by point.  At least fromm my limited experience with bother materials
