Vor Skral

From the sermons of the First Chaplain:

Doubt begets failure, never doubt the Word

Sever the thoughts of serving one God alone

Chaos united shall run through your veins

From the catechisms of the Black Cardinal:

Seek the powers of Chaos through force and guile

Trust no mortal, only faith will be your guide

Bring the aethyr into your soul

From the Book of Lorgar:

Turn to Chaos when lacking true purpose

The Four will fill you with the untapped potential of the Warp

The Truth is within the Word

Through these blessed words do we learn our Path

Through these holy scriptures do we steel our Faith

Through pain and fire do we temper our flesh

The Word and the Truth do we bring to the unenlightened

For the Ebon Word we serve

First Acolyte of the Ebon Word, Right Hand of the Iscarne

"The Word is a blade of Truth. I merely choose where it cuts."

- First Acolyte Vor Skral

Vor Skral walks the Eightfold Path with a scholar’s poise and a serpent’s patience. As First Acolyte of the Ebon Word, he stands at the Iscarne’s right hand; not merely as a lieutenant, but as the warband’s foremost interpreter of doctrine, ambition, and hidden purpose. His mind is a labyrinth of calculated loyalties and sharpened insight, a place where scripture and strategy coil together.

It is whispered in both the ranks of the Black Legion and among the Ebon Word's own faithful that Vor Skral sees further than most: into the cracks of faith, into the weaknesses of rivals, into the futures that might be shaped by a single whispered truth. He is an ambitious and scheming man, but his machinations never stray from the orbit of his lord. Every plot he weaves, every rival he outmaneuvers, is done in service to the Iscarne’s vision, for Vor Skral believes utterly that the Daemon‑Apostle is the chosen instrument of Lorgar’s hidden will.

In battle, he is a cold and deliberate presence, guiding warriors with the same precision he applies to politics. In council, he speaks rarely, but when he does, his words carry the weight of scripture. He is the one who ensures the warband’s faith does not fracture, the one who trims away dissent before it can take root.

Vor Skral is the Right Hand of the Iscarne, the acolyte who shapes the warband’s future from the shadows. Ambition burns in him like a banked coal; controlled, purposeful, and utterly loyal to the one flame he serves.

Very intriguing. I love the character ideas you are doing.

How are you doing that for them?

A lot of my fluff just comes from reading various books, from history to horror to LitRPG, and then adapting something from there with my own style. I'll take a theme or story arc or even single character trait I find interesting and then try to work up a full character from that.

The Night Lords are all somewhat based on the themes of tragic heroes or phyrric victories, where the Word Bearers are deluded religious leaders/cult heads. Most of the stories/WB chants are just top-of-the-head compositions rather than anything planned, though I go back and tweak them before they get put out. The descriptors are the hardest, as I try to avoid everyone sounding too similar throughout, while still having a distinct style.
