Practice and musings

Just one practice game to mention and it was not the most competitive - so I intentionally hindered myself with unit choices to let me try out some things.

Game against Necrons which are very good but the player is just returning to the game after a long time away so not the time to bring the competitive heat. More local community building than competitive practice but any game can have value if you use it properly and reflect on it. So I had some fun pushing kroot onto objectives and waiting to see what the Necrons could do about it - while having some "how to actually kill Necrons" skills.

As a learning experience its interesting playing this way, explaining the rules and working through the rules of the other player with that player. It is a different sort of experience and a different sort of learning. I think I learned more about Necrons than I would playing more competitively against them but less about my own list.

As for list development, I will post up my modelling progress soon but - its vespid. Quite  lot of the little bugs.

This comes back to the timing of the Birmingham UKTC and its just 2 week after the likely release of 11th. So really nobody is going to know what they are doing much less us having any sort of settle meta. Or any meta at all to be honest. When all else fails I fall back on scoring the objectives. Which in my case will mean

Kroot Carnivores for early game scoring

Vespid and Lone Spears for late game scoring

KHP lacks killing power but it is quite hard to actually table a KHP list so I am going to lean into scoring as much as possible and hang on in as long as possible to hinder my opponent scoring. From what I have seen so far this might be a high scoring edition, the primaries they have teased looked easy to score and while we have not seen the secondaries the fact that you can hang onto them until you score them feels like they will be fundamentally easier to score than in 10th. If that is the case then much of the trick of these early games of 11th will have high scores until the player base learns to adapt and adjust and limit the scoring of their opponents. Me, I am just aiming to have lots of scoring presence and hence score very high. Vespid sitting off the table ready to drop in any time can't be tabled and can drop in whenever needed to score a key secondary. So far as we can have any strategy this early that is what I am working towards.
