Canticle of Absolution
Et Templars Mysteria aux Ordo Malleus
"Praise the Emperor for His sacrifice, as He endures so shall we. We who are hunters of Daemons shall strive in His name eternally. We, the Order of the Hammer, shall delve into dark shadows, We shall seek out the tainted, we shall pursue the vilest evil. It is we who stand guard, our eternal watch shall not fail, For we are the Ordo Malleus!"
Well it is the eve of 11th edition, officially. Tomorrow we all begin the journey of 11th edition and return to Armageddon. We have the points, the rules, and the Faction focuses, so like many of you, I have been list crafting since Wednesday morning. And well, I was actually surprised on the direction I am headed. I was initially upset and as I sat and looked at the rules and builds, I leaned more and more back to my Grey Knights.
"We Grey Knights are the hammers, we slay the darkness without fear. Founded in great mystery were we, Chapter Six Hundred and Sixty Six. Though on Titan we be hidden, yet our eyes encompass the Galaxy. No Devil shall elude our gaze, no Daemon shall avoid its fate. We shall be the Keepers Immortal, all secrets shall be our knowledge. We are the Guardians of Mankind!"
My Grey Knights have lots of painted models, so it would be easier to play the army. My current project of Howling Griffons, is dominating my workbench and painting space, and they are not nearly close enough to play. Same can be said about my Adepta Sororitas, not close enough to be done to be playable. My Grey Knights need some touch ups, mainly some painting changes, like force weapon colors. So I was able to build various lists with the models I have, and started really looking at my Grey Knights, again. All Terminator lists, all Power Armor lists, various mixed lists, playing with the different detachments. Ideas continued to flow and I have a True Scale Project waiting to restart, that uses the Tortuga Bodies.
"Caution and secrecy are our code, watchfulness and patience are our way. Hidden from the Eyes of Chaos, we strike without warning or dread. Though we find ourselves in shadows, no blackness will enter our hearts. No treachery will touch our souls, no pride will sully our thoughts. We shall be pure amongst impurity, we shall be innocence amongst guilt. We are the Imperium`s hidden saviours!"
"We are spread across the Heavens, our watch is untiring and ceaseless. The Emperor shall guard our souls, as we guard those of others. Our will shall be our weapon, our faith shall be our armour. Our minds will be secure fortresses, no temptation will weaken our resolve. Though unnumbered lurking perils await us, our blades will ever be ready. For we are the Emperor`s Vengeance!"
What I don't like:
- The multiple unit tax. So many of the Grey Knight units are taxed.
What I do like:
- The unit Tax. It is not that bad and well If I really want them, I should pay for them above for the 3rd unit.
- The new detachment system
- The new detachments
- The pay for some upgrades.
"Masters of all weapons are we, no defence exists against our wrath. With the Nemesis shall we fight, with an Aegis to shield us. In bloodshed shall we save Mankind, death shall be our everlasting creed. War unending shall be our fate, in battle shall we be steeled. We shall be unstinting in hatred, we shall hunger for holy war. For we are Swords of Justice!"
I finally sat down and looked at the Crucible of Champions for the Grey Knights, not the Venerable Dreadnought, "Venerable Daemon Slayer" or the Nemesis Dreadknight Character, "Dreadknight Champion", but the Champion of Titan. I do have plans to make my Brother Captain in Dreadknight armor, so a Dreadknight Champion has been one my go to for Custom Character, so I ignored the Champion of Titan, as it add Terminator armor, like my Custom Howling Griffon Characters. Yesterday I was actually looking at the Champion of Titan options. I can give him a Personal Teleporter allowing him to join Interceptor squads, and use the Interceptor Detachment rule. I can give him a Special weapon and use the Purgation Detachment rules with him. So I have to build these now.
"When all flee in hideous disarray, strong and sound shall we stand. Cowardice is wholly unknown to us, our courage comes from the Emperor. Unbowed and unshaken against all foes, we shall claim victory with blood. Steady and surely we hunt them, those that dare oppose our wrath. Death stalks us in many forms, the grotesque and the utterly inhuman. We are Bringers of Hope!"
So I pulled out models I would need to finish along with painted models and down the rabbit hole I went.
- Forgeworld Razorback twin Heavy Bolters turrets. So I can switch out between the twin Lascannons.
- Terminator Ancient and Apothecary for all 6 squads
- Upgrading all squads to 10 man strong
- Land Raiders
- Aircraft
- True Scale models
This is a lot. And I need to reduce it, some how. This led me to really think about the army. The decision is to play my painted models, and build/ paitn my true scale models and replace them as we go.
"Bloody battles unending constantly await us, redemption the reward for our vigilance. When possession rears its unspeakable head, ours is the blade that descends. When empyrean horrors invade our realm, our exorcisms shall hurl them back. There is no chaos spawned horror which can resist our indomitable anger. With undaunted courage we shall prevail, no arcane magicks shall overcome us. We are the Bearers of Victory!"
So I picked up a new model and some other things from Tortuga.
I wanted more Seals and Signs, so I ordered 2 more to give me a total of five
Serhii will be my new Brotherhood Champion, once I give him a stormbolter on his wrist and he will look good with my Inceptor Champion
"No corruption shall blemish our Galaxy, no immatricial fiend shall be spared. No malevolent spirit will oppose us, no creation of sin shall survive. No unholy deed shall go unpunished, all blasphemous acts shall be atoned. No spawn of misrule avoid us, all are banished to the void. Nothing shall evade our cleansing fire, not Daemon or Spawn or Renegade, For we are Mankind`s Divine Blade!"
The next idea. The Inquisition. How can I have Grey Knights without an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor. I may not take an Imperial Agents with him, but he will be getting Inquisitorial Stormtroopers. Originally I was going to take Bridgehead Strike Force for all the scions. I might still take that, but I may do it my own way. Still will be lots of Scions, Valkyrie class, Taurox Primes, Tauros Venerators, and maybe the new Hippgraffs AFV, but it may not be Scion with Inquisition attached.
"Heavenly blessings are laid upon us, the Warp is ours to tame. Though sorceries shall be against us, no witchcraft will bring our doom. Though spell or incarnation blocks us, the Emperor shall see us victorious. No hex can overcome our determination, our resolve is strong as steel. Sigils and wards watch over us, prayers shall serve as our guide. For we are the Emperor`s Chosen!"
Another idea, Planetary Governor and Imperial Citizens. My gaming group is prepping for our campaign, so @The_Oni_of_Hindsight and I are discussing having Planetary Governors as playable/ Objective models. He is using the Praxia Planetary Governor as his Chaos Guard Regiment Overall Commander and Servant of the Iron Warriors. My Planetary Governor would notbe playable, but would be a rescuable model, along with Imperial Citizens.
Imperial Civilians are perfect.
The four models I am looking at for a Planetary Governor:
- Top Left- Too Puritan lookings
- Top Right- Leaning towards this one as he has about the right arrogance and not being evil.
- Bottom Left- Close to #2 but a little pompous
- Bottom right- pushes the evil a little too much.
"There is much darkness awaiting us, yet the Emperor lights our path. Falsehood surrounds us at every turn, yet no traitor shall confound us. No despicable trickery will thwart us, no damnation shall bring us low. There is no peace for us, for an eternity we will strive. Though mere mortals in His service, everlasting shall be our true duty."
"Et Imperator Invocato Diabolus Daemonica Exorcism!"
