Battle Report: AT Tempestus v Xestobiax

Quick shots of a recent battle against @Olis

Both of us looking for a quick and fun game, I suggested that we don't bother with orders and just roll the dice for each titan each turn, and to hell with the consequences, for additional chaos, I think Olis suggested we just have the machine spirit activate automatically on a MS roll, as opposed to the command check. Some angry titan fights ensued!

We got to play on this glorious table at WHW, which is the Legiones Imperialis board, but works better for titans.

We both used a corsair maniple, with our love of reavers, and had:

Tempestus

Aegis Aeternum: volcano, apoc, chas lasers

Fons Irae: laser blaster, fist, top laser

Arma Akimbo: melta, gatling, top volkite.

Xestobiax

1: Melta, apoc, chain

2: gatling, fist, apoc

3: gatling laser apoc.

True to their natures, I rolled charge, chargeand I think split fire for my titans. Disturbingly, the Dark Iron cores of Xestobiax issued stride, stride and I think first fire, meaning those chainfists got mightly close.

As these brave titans approached one another, they slyly looked to the left and right, nodded to one another, and promptly both issued shutdown orders, taking them both out of the game for a turn.

Fons Irae, rolling the split fire order, nevertheless moved to within fisting range of his opposite, punching the head of his rival, doing insignificant damage, and the gatling bouncing off, while the lasers rotated to ping away at another titan. In return, the Xestobiax engine falcon punched Fons and ripped his plasmatic heart out, causing catastropic damage. His core torn asunder, Fons staggered forwards, crashing into his enemy, severely damaging the xestobiax engine. Fons then collapsed forwards, into the purple meanie, knocking the other titan to the ground - double engine kill!

The lead up to this fight was kind of funny, I Fons rolled charge again, but was well out of range for the charge, and Olis trigun reaver opened up into Fons Irae, who declared voids to full, rolling a machine spirit - the spirit triggereing automatically, decided to have Fons walk 5" forwards ...just into melee range of the other fist titan!

I think I actually managed to roll some useful orders, and the combined fire of my 2 remaining titans too kout the meta fist threat, while the trigun Xest reaver kept discodancing, rolling stride again, and not managing to get a shot off. After this turn 4, we called the game, fun was had all round, we managed to kill 1 titan each, with the second Xestiobax engine being lost to it's own close range kill.

All these checkers are really great. Nice report and good pics.

Is the missile launcher on the Reaver´s back on pivot and orientable?

Thanks! The checks were done with some cheap nail art stickers I found on ebay, on the recomendation of Olis, who's checks I admired in turn!

All the titans are fully magged with rotating weapons, I always like to turn them to point at what they're shooting!
