Another look in the rear-mirror - a 2024 Hobby productivity report
Hi folks,
As year comes to an end, I spent some time having a look at this year productivity.
In terms of hobby time and painted miniatures, it has been quite a busy and productive year.
I did not realized until this very moment I started scrolling down back in time in my posts.
The list of milestones has been largely animated by the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge and the CtA2024.
Let´s dive in.
What counts but does not count as:
We are going to evacueta the 1200 pts of Dwarves for the World that Was and the Chaos Warrior units I painted in-between 40k units... It does not belong to this place. neither the long, very long list of minis associated to theis universe and waiting to be painted, some since 96...
Hail the Omnissiah:
It has been a big contribution and my army great in astonishing range:
- Lots of characters with a MAgo, a Manipulus, a Marshall and 2 lesser seers
- a Boarding patrol box and a Combat patrol box
- 6 Serberys raiders
- 3 Sydonin dragoons
- 1 Onager
- 2 Castellaxes
- 10 Hoplites
- 10 Electropriests
- and finally 1 allied Styrix Knight.
And I still have 2 Kastellans and their Datasmith, One patrol box (with Skitarii to be modified with a Peltast kit) and 5 Sicarans... Waiting to be painted.
Space elves:
Falling under the Ynnari banner, a set of various units from Drukhari and Ynnari as well as Craftworlders:
- Yvraine and the Yncarne
- One Archon and his 5 Incubis´ bodyguard
- 10 Kabalites
- 10 Mandrakes
- One ooP Spirit warrior
- 1 Vyper
- 1 D-Cannon
- 1 Storm guardian unit
- 1 Extra HW platform
And I still have the vehicles from the Drukhari Combat patrol box waiting to be painted as well as shroudrunners, rangers, harlies and 2 set of scourges. plus some Voidreavers and an big bag of old Eldar guardin bodies waiting the extra bits to be kit bashed in more stuff. I will wait for the release of the Codex before starting these lads... and then I will probably add stuff, either for the darkins (Venoms and Wyches) or for the Craftworlders (Spiders and Reapers, maybe some Wraithguards too). Or not.
Minor stuff:
A lot of minor stuff was also painted for various armies or allies:
- Imperial Agent received a Watch Master and almost a full Inquisitorial henchmen squad - I miss 2 miniatures to egt it complete.
- Astra Militarum received 1 Taurox (Goliath) and 3 HW teams
- GSC received 5 Abherrants
- SW saw 3 ooP Rhino and 1 ooP predator being repainted
- Orks received 1 grot for Orktober
- Epic got an ooP REaver Titan painted too
Astra Militarum and GSC still have friends in the waiting line, with some Hybrids and 2 Command squads, while there are a lot of small tiny marines and squats for Epic. And some 10 Night Lords CSM are also in the waiting room, but primed atm.
Scenery stuff:
A big year too, driven by a plodding along vow in 12 Months of Hobby plus some extra stuff:
- the 2 big Volkus building as last additions
- all the kits from the Bheta DEcima Season for KT
- more KT with the the Moroch set
- and tthen ooP Sector Fronteris too
- the Necromunda market
- an Ork workshop.
And I still have the 2 small building from the KT Volkus set on sprue, although they have received their base colour already...
As a conclusion, this year has been a very prolific one with an extremely high productivity. I managed less than I though I could have in the CtA2024 but other months have been more productive in S1 especially. I even managed playing one game! Or almost.
So it is the third year in a row that I paint a lot, initally for ending up the repainting momentum started during Lockdown, and now caught in a new dynamic of legalizing, completing all projects started sometimes decade(s) ago.
I end year 2025 with a seriously regenerated Pile-of-Shame, knowing that what is left is globally stuff bought within the past 18 months, with only exception being Epic (everything from the 90´s) and 2 kitbashed vehicles (Carnaudon and LR) I really need to resume someday.
Next year will probably be another story, more focussed on The Old World stuff. And other stuffs that are in the pipe and that will affect my hobby capacity for sure.
Merry Xmas and happy new year to all.
