Hi Folks,

 

As year ends, I keep on going a summary of these 12 past months and their contribution to my Bitz box managment and Pile of Shame reduction.

The 12 Months of Hobby Challenge is and has been a great incentive to keep on working on projects on a regular basis, without being too distracted by the "Last-in, First-out syndrom". It helps keeping the momentum on stuff left aside for too long.

 

 

Here is the summary:

 

January

The year started on a quiet rhythm. It was the first time I enlisted myself in the challenge and I did not wanted to burn myself from the beginning - I repainted 2 ooP Rhinos

 

 

February

I managed maintaining the rhythm, working only on A Mago Dominus from the AdMech Boarding patrol box, plus an ooP Epic Reaver Titan from the early 90´s.

 

March

I could have accelerated the pace, but I fugured out that I would maintain the rhythm low in order to get enough models to enlist a good value proposal in the soon to come CtA24. So I focussed on the Plodding along and a Wave Serpent Platform sourced from Ebay and useful to legaliza a Storm Guardian squad painted in CtA23. I also added 10 ooP Epic Land Raiders. Quick and Dirty

 

April

20 old Guardians were painted (Defender and Storm) plus the 10 Skitarii from the AdMech Boarding patrol box,, which received a resin kit for upgrading them to Secutarii Hoplites.

 

 

May

More Aeldarii with 2 ooP Wind riders, in order to maximize the size of my squad of old, 1 D-Canon, Some Warlocks for the previously painted Guardians and a kit bashed Jetbike riding Autarch. Once said this, I think I should have keep them for CtA24...

 

June

A lower productivity, because I foccussed on finishing the plodding along project. So I added only 5 GSC Abherrants. BTW, with or without "H"?

 

July

And here we are into CtA24 - I decided to muster more AdMech in order to try to get a favorable punctuation contribution in one Faction only - starting with 10 Negavolt Cultists as proxy electropriests. REst of my work was not listed nto 12 Months of Hobby but there was more AdMech cyborgs...

 

August

Still with CtA24 an same philosophy, with 2 Sydonian dragoons and 2 KT Bheta DEcima pieces of scenery

 

September 

Last Minute miniatures for CtA24, with the Yncarne. plus more Pointy Ears with 5 Incubis and 1 Vyper. 

 

 

Orktober

1 Grot. and more old stuff with 2 ooP Rhios based tanks (Vndicator and Predator), plus an Eldar SPirit Warrior. Sadly I had to use a more recent cast of HW on him as this old kit sourced cheap on Ebay came without its genuine weapon... One Aeldar heavy weapon platform completed the enlisted miniatures.

 

 

November

I succumbed to the plastic Castellax kit. ALthough I do not plan to build any HH Mechanicum force, I guess they do decent proxy for all guns Kastellans. 2 of these were painted, along 2 old Inquisitorial henchmen I forgot I had and one on the newest bulding from the KT Volkus kit.

 

December

And, finally, 10 Drukhari kabalites close the mustering.

 

Plodding along

 

 

I added a big number of scenery kits to my Plodding along vow. I planned to do it over the year but finally concentrated it over 6 Months - mostly

 

 

2024 saw the 100% completion of my SW of old, inc. 6 wolves scavanged from Goblins chariots. I still have however a kitbashed Land Raider that might deserve being finisehed some day. A good candidate for a 2025 Plodding along pledge as it aloso require some extansive plasticard reingeneering...

And Now? What will 2025 bring?

 

Surely I will enlist again, although my participation, especially for Q1, might be less intense.

I have renewed my Pile-of-Shame with some recent adquisitions. Let´s say over the past 18 months, and I have enough material to keep on painting:

• A "few" [insert Irronical icon here] AdMech squads (Peltasts, Magos, Pteraxxi, Sulphurhounds, Sicarans, Kastelans...)
• Reinforcing my Ynnari/Aeladrii/Drukharii/Corsair Force(s), with the 6 or 7 kits stored in my closet - gosh I have more of these than AdMech!
• Keep on completing the Astra Militarum Armoured fist army based mainly on kit bashed miniatures and meant to be a SW auxillia. These are designed to be versatile and go as a small autonomous 40k force or and allied contingent in HH SW force. 

 

As you notice 2 of these bullets are bound to new codices (Aeldarii and AM) and/or new games edition (HH). So I may wait and see. In between I still have iddled miniatures: Nemesis Claw from KT, more Volkus scenery, an isolated GSC hybrid kit and their mago... And full boxes of ooP epic SM and Squats.

 

January will be planning season. And planning this year will be tough.
