If I take a Chaos Knight with my Chaos Marines as a super heavy auxiliary detachment, do I lose "Let the Galaxy Burn"? It says "If every unit from your army has the Traitoris Astartes keyword (excluding models with the Agent of Chaos or unaligned keyword) and every <Legion> unit from your army is from the same Legion, this unit gains the following rules:" Sooo I guess I don't get Let the Galaxy Burn?? Or am I missing something?

Hello my friends. Just getting back into 40k after over a half a year. I've only ever played 2 games of 9th edition. Cover, I must admit is confusing and I find it needlessly complicated. So quite simply, it says for obstacles (and a few other terrain pieces) that if the shooting unit can't draw straight lines from it's base to the target, the target receives the benefit of cover. Well, what if the target unit is a squad of 10 SMs and 5 of them are in cover. What happens?

Honestly, I love the IWs in 9th and I'm glad they've been my army for a decade. I haven't gotten to play with the new codex yet, I just bought it last week. Me and my dad have a 2,500pt game coming up soon when I get the Chaos Knights codex, my Chaos army vs his Nids. My list, for the time being is as follows: Chaos Lord in terminator armor 2 sorcerers in terminator armor 2 terminator squads 1 Helbrute 4 legionary squads, 10 legionnaires per squad 1 Chaos Knight Desecrator 1 Land Raider 1 Annihilator Predator I'm rather content with this list so I can't say I would change anything but the unit I'm most looking forward to is that sexy tough 9 Land Raider!! Soul Harvester is gonna be crushing countless Tyranids under its treads, with ichor dripping off as it rumbles ever onwards!! Also, there is a strategym combo that I would like to point out if someone hasn't done so already. You guys already know about Smokescreen, the Land Raider can use this strategym once its targeted in the shooting phase, incurring a -1 to any attacks for the rest of the phase. Then you can activate the IW strategym Unholy Vigor and incur a -1 penalty to any wounds against it during the same phase. So a squad of devastators with Lascannons will be hitting the raider on 4s and wounding on 5s!! Then I still get a 4+ armor save assuming the opponent can get any wounds through. It seems that alot of people still don't want to take a LR because of how expensive it is but I feel it's now at least very justified in 9th. Oh and, I read somewhere that...wounds against a Land Raider can't be rerolled? What is this, and where can I find it in the codex? I can't find anything to back it up so maybe I'm missing something. -

Ok thank you! That makes more sense. Don't know why I saw that differently, looks rather simple actually. I appreciate the help clearing that up.

Ok I'll get right to it here friends, if Abaddon decides to use his claw Talon of Horus, does he roll the d6 attacks even if Drach'nyen isn't being used at all? While we're at it, does my Berzerker champion get the +1 attack with his Power Fist even if he doesn't use the chainsword? This all sounds confusing to me, since I don't know what the point of using the weaker weapons would be if you still get the benefits that go along with them. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey all! So, I've decided to change up my Chaos Marine army, finally. In previous editions, I used my Chaos Marines to rather devastating effect, amassing several units of regular Chaos Marines, as well as a few terminator units and daemon engines. Depending on the army I was playing against, I would sometimes use Rhinos for mobility, so I always had them at 10 strong, each squad armed to perform a specific job. 5th edition, great success. 6th and 7th edition, some success, but significantly less. Now, in 8th edition, I haven't won a single game. The losses have been devastating. Terminators are useless with 2 wounds when you take into account the amount of multi damage weapons that armies have access to. My Chaos squads can't stand up to anybody the way they used to. Daemon engines are alright but as it pertains to forgefiends....well they're also incredibly useless. The one unit I can rely on to do some damage are Khorne Berzerkers. They've always been melee monsters, but I hardly used them in 6th and 7th because of the massive nerfs. They are easily a top tier unit in 8th edition if you can fool your enemy, no unit can survive a Berzerker charge it seems, so that's nice, but they have no help....from anybody. So in desperation, I am withdrawing my hatred for Cultists, as it seems I need them to soak up damage. I have little experience playing weaker units such as these, and even though they are meant to die, I would like to know what kind of tactics the community uses with them to maximize their potential. Anything you guys got for me, I'll take it.

Voidraven Bomber, Void Mine ability.
Lord Tarkin replied to Lord Tarkin's topic in + OFFICIAL RULES +
Ok thanks friend. I'm a marine player, and last night was the first time I so much as looked at a Drukari codex, I just needed SOMEONE to verify that with me. That definitely seems more like it since it's only one time use. -
So I just played a good game with Dark Eldar yesterday, 1,120 points (she doesn't have a big enough army yet). Now, I like the Voidravens, they're quite scary. She inflicted heavy casualties on my regular Chaos Marines, killing 7 out of 10 for one, and 6 from another 10 man unit with her second bomber. After the game, I was going over her codex and I realized that the ability for the Void Mine says, "Three D6 for each vehicle or monster in the unit, or one D6 for every other model in the unit, up to a maximum of 10". The way I read that is 5 rolls would have been made for each of those 2 squads, being they are infantry. Is that right? P.S. She's knew and her bf (my brother) interpreted that, not her lol

I love it!!!!! I'm so jealous of that weaponry lol I mean, the laser destructor is good but it's only 3 shots. A good tank destroyer for sure, but boy am I loving those cannons. The paintjob is by far the best part, I'll show you mine when I get it painted but admittedly, I need to get better at rusting. Never have been good with anything extra like blood splatter, rust or anything like that but you did a good job here bro

Ah, ok, thanks. Yea I was aware that Chaos Knight kits are a bit lacking. I've seen some pretty good conversions online so I think I can give it a shot. You mind if I see yours? I also adore Kinghts lol

Hey all, a bit of an odd question I suppose, it's in regard to Chaos Knight pilots. Do these guys ever leave their knight? Like, are they capable of leaving the throne mechanicum? I'm working on some fluff for my created warband and I'm planning on this particular fallen noble being a close confidant to a chaos marine lord. As far as Ik, they seem to be...well, stuck in their thrones. Just rambling madmen. So I guess what I'm tryna ask is, have you guys found a...sane (mostly) Chaos pilot capable of leaving his throne and such?
-
Hm, I'm tryin to add an image of it but, can't figure out how. It's not painted yet unfortunately because my local store ran out of Abaddon Black and can't restock because of the virus. Really sucks too, I wanna paint it so bad lol And, I do love the Avenger Gatling Cannon, which knight do I have to buy to get that?

I'm glad you mentioned that, I was getting wayyyy turned off lookin at those damnations, they're cruel, but thanks for helpin me not be so intimidated by that lol. The pacts are pretty damn good otherwise. I never really thought to use the Helm of Warp Sight like that. Thanks so much for all this information, I've literally been lookin at this stuff while studying this codex for like 30 minutes now, and very worth it. After looking at the Infernal household and all the powers attached to it, so I think I'll do that. I was only considering Iconoclast for that Vow of Dominance stratagem, which makes enemy units have to wound you on a 4+ at best no matter what, which I think would screw over armies trying to make use of Lascannons and other similarly powerful weapons. The +1 toughness on the daemonic surge is nice tho, really all 3 of those surges are nice
