Ended up just going with Power Axes for the free change over and keep to keep the squad cheap Might give one a Vexilla for the look of it Chopped the cingulums off of the UM firstborn upgrade sprue torso And had to go 3rd party for the shoulder pads as don't have enough of them compared to how many actual cataphractii I have But as it seems GW are now completely getting rid of all gaming in store (stupid IMO) then it doesn't matter any more.

Was planning to as a precaution bought some 2mm dia x 4mm long magnets for it as they fit nicely inside the havoc launchers with just enough IIRC from looking for them to meet a 2x1 in the top of the terminator armour At the moment I think I might wait for the new edition to announce and see what GW do with the expanded/legacy units

Hey all Just want to clarify something because from my interpretation it doesn't actually seem like this is actually a viable wargear option. I see people saying to give the Cataphractii Command squads Standard Bearer a thunder hammer. While the wargear list does actually state "any model" may take one, from what I understand of the wargear lists is that when it specifies a model, like the S. Bearer, then that model may only take what is listed for it specifically. For the bearer it merely says a power weapon may be swapped for x, y and z but doesn't list a thunder hammer which is further clarified in the actual wargear section where it talks about specialist weapons etc. In the same way with the Vexilla and Nuncio-Vox for regular squads vs the options listed for the sergeant of those squads. So I would like to actually confirm this or not before I go ahead and glue a weapon on to the model. Because as far as I can see it the bearer may only take the power sword, power axe, power maul and power lance as those are the generic power weapons.

Just wanted to use that shoulder pad from the Chaplain on bike because of the purity seals/oaths of moment Unfortunately with the Vertus bike you can't really do much other than use the Custodes parts As for the Primaris Mk10 helmet, again because of the armour, made using any of the other better helmets hard. Would have liked to have used the champion helmet from the Firstborn upgrade kit -

So just a post to display some of the models I've recently painted as I've gotten back into Heresy recently. Age of Darkness is what got me back into the hobby right back on the 31st of Decemeber 2022/1st January 2023 so almost 2 years ago now. I put some of the models together, then only painted like 2 of them (a praetor with sword and a contemptor dread). The Tech-Marine was part painted then never finished til now. However, finally having actually had a couple of games of it now I'm in the mood for painting more Ultramarines etc. Annoying though to find out that a lot of the resin stuff is now completely oop when the plastic kits don't quite replace what was made in resin.. Leetu or LE2, I have 4 of the original ones I believe I've posted some time in the past, however they, along with all my RTB01 marines, are too small to use with Heresy now unless I put them all on tactical rocks or put a good 4-5mm of cork under the base which I can't be bothered to do. So I'm using 1 of the 2 anniversary ones I have unboxed (have 3 more boxed) Anyway, here's what I've painted. I hope you all like them. I'm currently finishing up a kitbash I did of a Custodes Vertus Jetbike for a Praetor on a better looking Scimitar Jetbike than the boring looking Sky-Hunters. I also need to paint the last 3 of my Veteran squad up. The old Master of the Arsenal model (it's the original metal one) is being used as a Centurion Will need to get my standard bolter bois done up so that I have the 1HQ, 2 Troop mininum but made a decent start on stuff.

Thanks As I already have 10 regular Cataphractii (2 AoD starter boxes) set up with an auto cannon, a flamer and mix of melee weapons, as well as 3 singles I bought off of ebay so that I can make another autocannon & flamer + another regular cata, that squad is sorted. So with the 10 I have left I could, I suppose, do 2 5 man squads, 1 with the targeters and 1 with weapons. If I want any more Terminators in the future I think I'll get some Tartaros to mix it up. Also recently found some of my ancient 90s original plastic indomitus terminators, which I've rebased, so can throw them in to my Heresy army too

To be honest after seeing how they were to what they are now, I agree about them just not being worth it but as a UM player there not being much by way of UM specific stuff, I still wouldn't mind at least making a 5 man squad just for the look of it. It's a shame that Games Workshop did nerf that as hard as they have. I get they were anti-fun in the previous edition which I never experienced as it came and went while I was on a break from the hobby but damn they really kicked us UM players in the nadgers with the downgrade. However, as for melee weapons, which would you say are actually worth going for? Is the Decurion taking a Thunder Hammer worth it for example?

So looking to make a squad of Cataphractii into a Fulmentarus squad I've been looking for the old entries for them so I can see how they've changed between the old edition of Heresy and now. From the look of it the main change, besides the nerf, is to the Peritarch targeter and how it works. In the old entry I found it was just part of the Terminators wargear with them being able to take the ranged and melee weapon as normal Whereas now in the legacies of the Heresy PDF it seems Games Workshop have decided to nerf it further and make it so that the Peritarch Targeter is similar to "ye olde" 2nd Ed era Cyclone Missile Launcher Terminator where the targeter took up the entire hand. To add to that instead of the whole squad benefitting (and to different levels depending on how big the squad was) from how many targeters there were the current rule is that the specific model with the targeter is the one to benefit from both night fighting and twin linked rules. So to my mind there's only really two ways to go about making the squad loadout Either they all have a targeter and forgo a melee weapon for all to benefit from night fighting and twin-linked rule (and with my dice rolling twin-linked is a definite good idea lol) Or I go with 1 or 2 per 5 man squad with something like this: Main 5 man squad = Sergeant - Thunder Hammer, then 1 or 2 x powerfists/chainfists/lightning claws + 1-2 targeters Additional 5 man squad/expansion = 3-4 more powerfist/chainfist/lightning claws + 1-2 more targeters Unfortunately the options for the autocannon squad is no longer available to take I know they're probably not worth running nowadays as a legacy unit but I'd still like to build some. Have asked this same question elsewhere but seems I'm destined to go unanswered so asking here as well.

Some of my "heavy metal" for my L.I. armies
Dark-Storm-01 replied to Dark-Storm-01's topic in + LEGIONS IMPERIALIS +
In total I have: 3 Questoris Knights 2 Cerastus Knight Lancers 6 Warhound Titans 3 Reaver Titans 1 Warlord Titan 1 Warmaster Titan I have 3 more Questoris coming and have a box of Dire Wolves, Cerastus Knight Archerons & Castigators and a box of the Acastus Knight Porphyrion on order -
I decided to be a lazy so-in-so and stick with Ultramarines and so my Solar are Ultramar Auxilia I'm not really painting the smaller scale stuff to anything other than tabletop ready or slightly above TTR However, here's what I've painted of my Knights and Titans thus far House Terryn and Legio Astorum - chosen so I can use them with both armies Need to add some transfers then carefully weather and battle damage stuff + varnish but so far coming along nicely
-
For the old models I'd happily use all my Astartes stuff.. Fair amount of Mk1 Land Raiders etc.
-
£400 is a bit much for my pocket unfortunately Shame I can't use the old Epic one. I have 2, one still on sprue, and managed to get my hands on the warmonger upgrade kit too.
-
I know we'll never get one but damn I wish Games Workshop would make a Legion Imperialis scale Imperator Titan :D
-
thanks hmm just got a reaver titan today as well man the warlord is huge looking forward to the warmaster they're supposedly bringing out now if only they'd make a new imperator :D
-
So for Legion Imperialis I'll be building up loyalist armies for both Astartes and Auxilia Astartes I'll be tying it in with AoD and 40K so I'll be doing Ultramarines Auxilia not sure which regiment I want to go with right now - but WILL need to be a loyalist one For the Knights and Titans though I'd like to ask if there's any particular paintschemes I can look at doing that are generic enough that the models can be used for both armies

My Skorpekh Destroyers are done. Thinking of giving them another wash of at least Agrax. Anyone know if any of the red washes will make it look like they've been through blood?
