Hi guys, there will be a quite casual tourny on this weekend, so organizers allowed to use FW models. I tried to build a list around my Leviathan, Redemptor dreadnoughts and Excelsior LR, but I want to hear your opinion on it as to what should I change to benefit more from IH CT. List: ++ Vanguard Detachment +1CP (Imperium - Space Marines) [28 PL, 461pts] ++ + HQ + Lieutenants [4 PL, 63pts] . Lieutenant: Chainsword, Master-crafted boltgun Techmarine [4 PL, 57pts]: Boltgun, Chainsword, Servo-arm + Elites + Company Champion [3 PL, 54pts]: Combat shield, Master-crafted power sword Redemptor Dreadnought [10 PL, 197pts]: 2x Storm Bolters, Icarus Rocket Pod, Macro Plasma Incinerator, Onslaught Gatling Cannon Sternguard Veteran Squad [7 PL, 90pts] ++ Battalion Detachment +3CP (Imperium - Space Marines) [50 PL, 856pts] ++ + HQ + Land Raider Excelsior [24 PL, 455pts]: Grav-cannon and grav-amp, Multi-melta, 2x Twin lascannon Librarian [6 PL, 105pts]: 2) Might of Heroes, 5) Psychic Fortress, Boltgun, Force sword + Troops + Intercessor Squad [5 PL, 101pts]: Auxiliary Grenade Launcher, Bolt rifle, 4x Intercessor, Intercessor Sergeant Scout Squad [6 PL, 90pts]: 5x Camo cloak, sniper rifles Tactical Squad [9 PL, 105pts] Storm bolter, Lascannon ++ Spearhead Detachment +1CP (Imperium - Space Marines) [19 PL, 374pts] ++ + HQ + Techmarine [4 PL, 57pts]: Boltgun, Chainsword, Servo-arm + Heavy Support + Predator [9 PL, 196pts]: Hunter-killer missile, Twin lascannon, Two Lascannons Thunderfire Cannon [6 PL, 121pts] + Heavy Support + Relic Leviathan Dreadnought [16 PL, 309pts]: 2x Heavy flamer, 2x Storm cannon array ++ Total: [113 PL, 2000pts] ++ Tactica: LR with both dreadnoughts are moving forward. LR is warlord, Im thinking about giving him IH warlord trait for additional Lascannon shots (or just use the FNP one?) All characters and Sternguard are riding in LR. Predator and TFC are chilling in the back with Scounts and Intercessors as screens. Predator and LR - anti-tank. Redemptor and Leviathan - anti-hord. Techmarines will try to fix them in case of damage.

The Flesh is Weak! End of September I have a 1000 point tournament coming up and since I have haven't played a tournament since May I thought this would be a good idea to get back into things. With the new codex in hand I came up with this list. I know it lacks some punch but I don't know what could come up at 1000 points. Battalion: HQ: Primaris Captain - Power Fist, Plasma Pistol Techmarine - Storm Bolter, Power Axe TROOPS: Intercessor Squad (5) - Chainsword, Auxiliary Grenade Launcher Intercessor Squad (5) - Chainsword, Auxiliary Grenade Launcher Intercessor Squad (5) - Chainsword, Auxiliary Grenade Launcher HEAVY SUPPORT: Relic Leviathan Dreadnought - Storm Cannon Array x2, Heavy Flamer x2, Hunter Killer Missile x3 Mortis Contemptor Dreadnought - Kheres Assault Cannon x2 Mortis Contemptor Dreadnought - Kheres Assault Cannon x2 Main play is marching forward with the dreadnoughts and staying in Devastator Doctrine to benefit the shooting power. Intercessors either screen to the best of their abilities OR camp on objectives. Alternative is swapping the captain with a Phobos Captain and swapping a Intercessor squad with a Incursor squad and dropping the Hunter Killer Missles. Thoughts and ideas? Trying to maintain the Iron Hands feel with vehicles and dreadnoughts. Thanks!

Had one of the more enjoyable games I have played recently with a list I really enjoyed. Its played using IH but its a "successor." I have changed a few odds and ends based on how I wanted things to work and how they ended up working. Primaris Apothecary and a Primaris LT were added at the expensive of reiver squad and a hellblaster Captain in gravis, warlord, Aegis Ferrum, All Flesh is Weak Primaris Chappie, catechism of fire 6 Intercessors with stalkers 6 Intercessors with Autobolters 6 Intercessors with Autobolter Hellblasters x5 2 Implusors with shield dome, iron hail heavy stubber and 2 storm bolters 1 Repulsor dakka variant with Twin Las cannon Chapter Master in Phobos armor(probably wont give him IronStone next time). Primaris LT Aggressors x3 boltstorm gauntlets Primaris Apothecary(added to keep vanguard detachment) maybe will use the new strat for him) Relic COntemptor with 2 Kheres assault cannons Repulsor Executioner heavy laser destroyer + stuff I played against a Tesseract Vault necron list and had a blast. I used the stalkers chapter master, contemptor, Hellblasters and Executioner to hold a flank in a building. Then the impulsors and repulsor pushed the other flank against his 3 squads of immortals, destroyers, and characters. There were enough bodies that once my autobolter guys and command section got out and pushed forward they had the one turn of no chaplain buffs and then it turned into a perfect storm situation and I just started annihilating squad after squad. I did switch to tactical doctrine to take advantage of the -1Ap. One of those autobolter 6 man teams took out the final wounds on the Vault even. Pointwise it stayed close until the end and I finally took out the wraiths and deciever who were camping an objective in my deployment zone. All he had left at the end were the lord and cryptek who veiled out to safety when the writing was on the wall with his own center force became clear. I felt I really needed an LT with my mobile force with its mass of S4 weapons to get just a little more ummph out of them. I had a 5 man reiver squad along with heavy hellblasters. Since I had so many intercessors and light guns on my transports I felt that staying in the heavy doctrine didnt really benefit me much. So I dropped the reivers and swapped out the heavies for the standard hellblasters. So I needed a new elite for my vanguard and the cheapest useful option is a Primaris Apothecary. The question is on where to put him. Should I drop an intercessor and toss him in an Impulsor or put him in the rear with the hellblaster/stalker guys?

Got some casual games this weekend and decided to give the new codex a whirl. I'll be using my Heresy Death Guard minis so there's a little count-as in here but I felt like Iron Hands fit the fluff best as the Chapter Tactic. Looking at this Battalion Captain - Relic: The Primarch's Wrath - WLT: Storm of Fire Lieutenant - MC Bolter Tactical Squad - Missile Launcher Tactical Squad - Missile Launcher Tactical Squad - Missile Launcher Dreadnought - Twin Heavy Flamer - Fist with Stormbolter 2 Company Veterans (filling points, extra wounds for the buff characters) Devastators - 4 Missile Launchers - Cherub Contemptor Mortis - Twin Kheres - Cyclone Missile Launcher VANGUARD Chaplain - Terminator Armour - Combi-Flamer Cataphractii Terminators - 5 Storm Bolters, Grenade Harness - 3 Power Fists/ 2 Chainfists Aggeessor Squad - 4 Twin Flame Gauntlets Relic Contemptor - Dread Fist/ Chainfist, 2 Plasma Blasters Basic plan is stand back and shoot missiles at things with Ap3 from Devastator Doctirnes (or ap1 frags). Dreads are effective well into the low wounds due to doubling the damage tables too. Captain and Lieutenant buff things. 9CP will probably mean making him a chapter master, orbital bombardment, +1 to hit on Terminators and letting the Mortis move and shoot with no penalties. What do people think? :D

First things first my culln the risen has been bashed into a IH since he came out Basically the Redemptor group up with the tech marine (ironstone) and chaplain, the 2 leviathans group up. With the infantry moving up behind to take objectives. Its not intended to be hyper competitive and the leverage the mobility and toughness without being to game breaking or to obnoxious to play against. I'll start with 9 cp which I feel is a reasonable amount +++ Shadow of Naxos (Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition) [103 PL, 9CP, 1,995pts] +++ ++ Battalion Detachment +5CP (Imperium - Space Marines) ++ + No Force Org Slot + **Chapter Selection**: Inheritors of the Primarch, Iron Hands, Iron Hands Successor, Red Scorpions Battle-forged CP Detachment CP + HQ + Carab Culln the Risen: Heavy bolter, 2x Heavy flamer, 3x Hunter-killer missile, Merciless Logic, The Tarsus Scorpii, Twin assault cannon, Warlord Primaris Chaplain: 5. Recitation of Focus, Absolver Bolt pistol, Benediction of Fury, Crozius arcanum, Frag & Krak grenades, Litany of Hate + Troops + Intercessor Squad: Bolt rifle . . 4x Intercessor: 4x Bolt pistol, 4x Frag & Krak grenades . . Intercessor Sergeant: Bolt pistol, Chainsword, Frag & Krak grenades Intercessor Squad: Bolt rifle . . 4x Intercessor: 4x Bolt pistol, 4x Frag & Krak grenades . . Intercessor Sergeant: Bolt pistol, Chainsword, Frag & Krak grenades Intercessor Squad: Bolt rifle . . 4x Intercessor: 4x Bolt pistol, 4x Frag & Krak grenades . . Hellblaster Sergeant: Frag & Krak grenades, Plasma pistol Relic Leviathan Dreadnought: Grav-flux bombard, 2x Heavy flamer, 3x Hunter-killer missile . . Leviathan siege claw: Meltagun ++ Vanguard Detachment +1CP (Imperium - Space Marines) ++ + No Force Org Slot + **Chapter Selection**: Inheritors of the Primarch, Iron Hands Detachment CP + HQ + Techmarine: Boltgun, Frag & Krak grenades, Power axe, Servo-arm Relic Ironstone + Elites + Redemptor Dreadnought: 2x Fragstorm Grenade Launchers, Heavy flamer, Heavy Onslaught Gatling Cannon, Redemptor Fist Redemptor Dreadnought: 2x Fragstorm Grenade Launchers, Heavy Onslaught Gatling Cannon, Onslaught Gatling Cannon, Redemptor Fist Redemptor Dreadnought: 2x Fragstorm Grenade Launchers, Macro Plasma Incinerator, Onslaught Gatling Cannon, Redemptor Fist

The inherent problem with Feirros and the Leviathan is that they WILL become more expensive. Imagine both units get the Girlyman-/Castellan-Treatment with a 50pts or respectively 100pts increase with the Leviathan. The tournaments I attend wont allow Index Units, so no Techmarine on a bike for me. I thought long and hard about even a simple Techmarine for 45pts. It is hard to stay mobile with a 6" model and even worse with this NEW 5" Primaris Mustache-Abomination called Feirros. Imagine how much better Iron Hands hands will become if we, the Iron Tenth seek a strong midfield presence or even frontline assaults instead of "hurr-durr-we have are the new Girlyman-Castle and u cannot touch my triple executioners or my suddenly new favourite Leviathans". With leaving Feirros out of the game we can do so much hammer time. I often use a Master-Crafted Damage 4 hammer, Jump Pack Chapter Master 5 hits in and Jump out or glue him to another unit I dont want to shoot. I would strongly advise to make best use of "Student of History"-Trait without Feirros, stop this nonsense repeating same 3 lists over and over again. Use the advantage of Iron Hands without maximising on simple ideas. Dont let yourselft fooled you cannot be outplayed on objectives. Logic and cold fury is the creed of Iron Hands and not this whimpish Tau-Girlyman-Caste-up-behaviour. With Iron Hands you can be VERY creative. Make the Iron 10th proud and ignore the bandwagoners who "always loved, White Scars(7ed), Salamanders(early 8ed), Ultramarine fanbois (because Girlyman) and soon maybe the new Dorn boys with their supplement to come).

Flesh is Weak Has anyone had success with running non-standard lists with Iron Hands? By that I mean lists that don't spam: Thunderfire Cannons Executioners Flyers I have a ITC format tournament mid November and sadly I don't own any of those units listed. I'm trying to make a list that will still do well and have all my bases covered. I was thinking something like Captain on Bike - SS and CC weapon Lieutenant Techmarine Intercessors - Stalker Intercessors - Stalker Intercessors - Stalker Venerable Dreadnought - Lascannon and Missile Launcher Relic Leviathan Contemptor Mortis Kheres Assault Cannon Contemptor Mortis Kheres Assault Cannon Whirlwind Whirlwind Repulosor - Lascannon and dakka Repulosor - Lascannon and dakka So pretty basic. I have been using the Captain on a Bike for awhile and he provides a good distraction and road block. No Ferrios due to not have much infantry (as I only have 20 Intercessors). Dreadnoughts and Repulsors trundle forward and the Whirlwinds hang back. Intercessors can either be deployed inside the tanks or on foot to screen. I know I don't have any infiltrators but with no Warsuits, Eliminators, and only 15 scouts I don't see much of options. What are some other good units people have used?
