From the album: Return Project
I did a test with another blue over black and got interested in the results. Did a side by side. -

Went back over the purple with an older blue and got decent results! -
A Novamarine: First Step Painting.

From the album: Return Project
I decided to go towards Novamarines. I think I hit the purple a bit heavy on the test mini's shoulder with the base coat but otherwise it looks like it mainly just needs cleaning up with the cream/bone after I am done. -
From the album: DeathWatch Killteam models
A detail shot showing the boltgun that Argus carries. I based it on the design of the upgraded one Captain Titus obtains later in the Space Marine video game which features front iron sights and a drum mag courtesy of Anvil Industries. When I get round to painting my Novamarines properly, there will be some of them wielding this pattern which I have dubbed the Graia pattern. -
Hello all, WIth 9E in and the new Codex, starting some new projects, including some Lamenters and now some Novamarines. Going to be working on getting at least a combat patrol at first. Starting with a Primaris Lieutenant. This one is a quite simple model without too much ornamentation, so a good one to practice the quartered scheme on. Not certain if I should do standard codex style helmet markings on novamarines, I think I will to change them up some.

Greetings folks, I'm in the process of painting up a Novamarines Primaris Marine for a painting competition at my local GW. Having sat down with one of the new minis and started the Novamarines scheme, I feel really inspired to paint my Dark Imperium Primaris Marines as Novamarines. I did a small force of them back in 2009, so am no stranger to them. However, I just wanted to see if anyone can shed any light on what company markings the chapter uses? I've read through the fluff in IA9, and can see they are strict adherents to the Codex Astartes. Does this mean that they have coloured shoulder trim to denote company? Can't seem to see any comment on this in IA9. I've not seen any Novamarines painted with coloured trims, so wanted to see what you guys thought. In the meantime, here's a quick WIP shot of the Novamarine in question: Cheers, WW

Greetings folks, A little over 8 years ago, I started a small force of Novamarines. I wanted to do a Codex chapter, having mainly played non-Codex chapters previously. I got a few squads and characters painted up, then real life caught up with me and I had to abandon the project. Fast forward to last week and I get given a Primaris Marines to paint up for my local GW's painting competition. It had already been converted to have a chapter pad from the Deathwatch kit. Lo and behold, it was a Novamarine. Looks like the universe is trying to tell me something! Anyway, I've painted up the store mini as a test scheme for my own Primaris Marines, having already purchased Dark Imperium. I'll be dropping him off at the store tomorrow to go in the cabinet. Here's the test miniature, 2nd Intercessor Squad, 4th Company: I'm going to start with the contents of the Dark Imperium box only for now. I'm also trying to scrounge together more Novamarines pads from the DW kit. I may well end up hitting Shapeways to order some custom pads. I've gone for white instead of bone, as I just prefer the contrasting look of the two colours. They'll be done as 4th Company, as denoted by the numerals on the left kneepad. If I can get hold of some white numeral decals, I'll put the squad numbers in the tactical marking. This will likely be a slow burn project, as I collect together the bits I need, but I do hope to keep this thread rolling. C&C is, as always, appreciated. Cheers, WW
