Name: jbaeza94

Age: 21

County/State: Arizona US

Occupation: Military

Time Spent in Hobby: April 2014

Armies: Dark Angels Greenwing/Deathwing combo, Mechanicus War Convocation, hoping to get a titan legion started

It all started out when people were making fun of a guy in my platoon's "dolls", me ever fascinanted with models took interest and strategy sealed the deal. I got the DV set and began the journey. I'm in love with the game. My buddy who introduced me is a SW player and we like playing 2v2 at our local shop, but not before settling the millenia long fued, Ulrik the Slayer vs Interrogator Chaplain Mellian (TDA,MoR)

Name: Jazzhands (after a terminator with a missile launcher and a dodgy arm pose!)

Age: 35

Country: UK, Durham to be more specific

Occupation: Primary Teacher

Time Spent in the hobby: just let me do some googling... ok looks like I started about 23-24 years ago, but I had a big break. Been back in for just over a year since my daughter started playing.

Armies: DA all the way! I have a very large force of greenwing, deathwing and ravenwing (you know, before they got cool!). Also sometimes play my daughter's nids but never her chaos army.

My youngest (13) was having some issues and we got into (back into) the hobby to see if it would help. It really worked and I'm pleased to say she is a much happier person since she gets to crush her enemies! Struggled with my Ravenwing for the last year while people told me how bad my fliers were every time I got them out. Now they just tell me how overpowered the jink reroll is!

I try to be a gentleman gamer. We play for fun not for arguments.

I'm glad this was resurrected from one of the many Vaults on The Rock. I'll give it a go.

Name: Mehman

Age: 29 going on 75

Country: Texas, USA

Occupation: Ex-Military Contractor (2005-08) / Ex-Substance Abuse Counselor / Currently and Permanently Disabled

Time Spent in the Hobby: 7-10 years depending on breaks

Armies: Clerics (Unforgiven Successor), Iron Hands, Imperial Guard, Inquisition, Warband of Priests, Adeptus Mechanicus Detachment (Skitarii and Cult), Imperial Freeblade Knights, Space Wolves, Flesh Tearers, Grey Knights, Militarum Tempestus Regiment

I started into the Hobby with Warhammer Fantasy Battles (may you live forever in our hearts and minds) playing the Warriors of Chaos. I wanted to not have to drive three hours to play a game so I started playing 40k with a small group of guys where I used to live. Chaos had its hooks in me quite badly from my WoC and Beastmen armies but, when I tried to play Chaos in 40k, it didn't translate well. That's when I discovered the Space Marines.

I got a tester set of three push-fit marines and tried to paint red (during the Red Gore days). That little journey ended and I picked up the Imperial Guard. Ah, the Guard- I was home. Years passed with me throwing bones to 40k while I concentrated heavily on WHFB. Then, by discovering Black Library, my interest in 40k exploded. Suffice to say I painted and fluffed a lot with no "real" games taking place. That never mattered as I was, and still am, more about fluff and painting/converting than playing. After hating the Dark Angels for so long over my own ignorance, my mind exploded once again and I started my Clerics in response.

Besides my wife, the Hobby is really all I have in life to be happy about. It is wound intrinsically into my very being as it is one of few things that I can count on being there for me when hardly anyone else would be. It's gotten me through some very, very low times and it's been there during my pinnacle times. I can't put into words how I feel about that. Well, anyway, sorry about the long wall of text!

Occupation: draftsman/designer

Time spent in hobby: 19 years

Armies collected: Dark Angels, Ultramarines, Grey Knights, Guard, Chaos Marines, Daemons, orks and Necrons

Make your mark: Really got into the hobby whole hog 5 years ago. Ran campaigns and tourneys for a few years at my FLGS before scaling back due to work. Know far and wide for my ability to roll one's and paint to a 3 color minimum.

Also, the guy on MWG Beat Matt who played an Ultramarines 1st as Deathwing? That was me:) I have some right proper Deathwing now:) )

Name: Brother Sergeant Luther

Age: 29

Contry/State: UK/Scotland

Occupation: Royal Navy Submariner

Time spent in hobby: 22 years on and off

Armies Collected: Dark Angels and just taking my first faltering steps into an Admech force

Make your mark: Well let us see, I admin a fair few Facebook pages related to the hobby, including the largest 40k group and the largest Dark Angels dedicated group. I enjoy writing FanFic so you may see me sharing some of that work from time to time, for me the lore is one of the biggest factors to my interest in 40k as while I do collect and paint models, I primarily read the books as it is hard to model on deployment. Anyway looking forward to interacting with you all

Country/State: Ontario, Canada

Occupation: Industrial painter

Time spent in hobby: 20+ years

Armies collected: DA (now being turned to AoA), IG, Eldar, Orcs and Chaos for fantasy

Make your mark: Current project is a full 5th company Angels of Absolution, all tall scaled and "dynamically posed". This has evolved to now include my fledgling IG army, possibly including inquisition and Deathwatch at a later time.

Name: Brother Haim
Age: 31
County/State: Virginia, USA
Occupation: IT
Time Spent in Hobby: Almost 17 years
Armies: Dark Angels (1st Company Deahtwing, 2nd Company Ravenwing and 3rd Battle Company), Mechanicus War Convocation, and a Titan Maniple.

Make your mark: I plan to finish my DA sometime in 2017, when complete my game group will be playing a 40k on 40k game and I plan to field the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Companies, and I mean the entire companies.

Name: Raztalin
Age: 35
Country/State: England, Northampton
Occupation: IT
Time spent in hobby: 25+ years
Armies collected: DA, small GK force and a small Inq. warband.
Make your mark: The modelling side of the hobby is where my interests lay mainly.  I intend to build and paint a Full Double Demi Lion's Blade.  I currently have circa 120 TDA models, as Deathwing was my first love, this has been sidelined whilst I now build the previously mentioned Double Demi.  I tend to build a lot and paint little lol

Didn't even know this thread existed!

Name: Carlos
Age: 32
Country/State: Australia, NSW
Occupation: Public Servant
Time spent in hobby: Since 1998 (19 Years)
Armies collected: Dark Angels, Tyranids and Thousand Sons
Make your mark: I just love the 40k setting and I love playing the games. My wife said it suits me because I'm a pretty competitive guy but even in Tournaments I make sure my opponent is having a good time (even though the person I'm playing might be a total douche canoe).

Name: Brother Vod
Age: +++ Record Expunged +++
Country/State: Wales
Occupation: Software designer
Time spent in hobby: Started back in 1984 playing Traveller by GDW (Game Designers Workshop). Moved onto playing Twilight 2000 and then onto BattleMech and then Rogue Trader. Got massively into Space Hulk (at one point I owned something like 10 sets) where I fell in love with Deathwing. Due to work, starting a family etc I stopped playing sometime around 1995. Fast forward to  2014 and my son asked if he could go to the new comic shop in town and buy some Blood Angels, almost fell off my chair! He bought a tactical squad and I ended up buying Dark Vengeance to get the rules...
Armies collected: Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Space Wolves,Imperial Guard, Imperial Knights, Cult Mech, Skitarii
Make your mark: In my clubs Christmas apoc game (10 v 10 10K per man, Imperium v chaos/xenos), a chaos player deployed Cypher three tables over from me. On our turn I abandoned the table I was fighting on and teleported the entire first company (120+ TDA) onto the middle of the chaos players table. The Imperium ended up losing but the thrice-cursed was hunted down!

Age: 31
Country/State: Australia
Occupation: Cafe Manager/Accounting Trainee, formerly a book editor.
Time spent in hobby: 7 years, 10 year hiatus, now 2 years back.
Armies collected: Dark Angels.
Make your mark: I was running the Lion's Blade detachment before it was even a thing! That was my core army during 3rd and 4th ed.

Name: Worsey
Age: 43
Country/State: Isle of Man
Occupation: Chartered Accountant

Time spent in hobby: About 5 years in my teens playing rpg's/Epic/SH/BB/40k, then a 20 year break before finding my old copy of Heroquest in my parent's attic. And here we are.
Armies collected: Guardians of the Covenant. Also got the BaC painted box art, and trying to finish Da Blak Krag Butchaz in time for the BB tourney starting next week.
Make your mark: About to enter my first ITC tourney (my local club singles comp) with at most half a dozen games under my belt since getting back into the hobby, principally because 1) Monday night is marathon training night which clashes with club night, and 2) my army has the ATSNTTTFU rule (And They Shall Not Take To The Field Unpainted). Should be fun and looking forward to it. Am working on my winner's speech whilst out running.

As it should be (subject to events in GS3). First rate apoc fluff Brother Vod!

Name: Darkraven89

Age: 27

Country/State: New Jersey

Occupation: Sanitation Worker

Time spend in hobby: Started looking into different armies in 2014 due to a few friends talking about it and I got curious. They showed me a few books to see what I would like to play/paint and here I am 3 years later.

Armies Collected: Just Dark Angels cause love the lore and models.

Make Your Mark: I enjoy the hobby over actual games but Sammael always does the job when he hits the field. And probably the best painted model in my collection.

Name: Lord Sesslec

Age: 34

Country/State: Winnipeg, Canada. Shropshire UK

Occupation: Military pilot

Time spent in hobby: 23 years

Armies collected: Dark Angels (5th Company, Deathwing and Ravenwing), Harlequins, Dark Eldar, Eldar, Deathwatch, Tau and Blood Ravens. 30k Ravenwing and Custodes.

Make your mark: I love the gaming aspect, but started off as a hobbyist. Now I like to paint armies quickly and effectively. Lately my Ravenwing was nominated for best army at a Throne of Skulls, but my big secret was that it was purely washes and drybrush. Complete 40k addict.

Name: Sneakybamsen

Age: 35

Country: Denmark

Occupation: IT-consultant

Time spent in hobby: 2 years

Armies collected: Dark Angels, Chaos Space Marines (chaos dwarfs, empire, orcs & goblins and undead as well back in the OLD fantasy days 20 years ago)

Make your mark: When I entered my first tournament, I went with pure deathwing (current codex) and at least got thumps up for attending with it. Hit the deck when I lost 4 games and drew the fifth. Not fielding pure deathwing in the current edition again, I just can't make it work.

@Solrac - at one time this topic was pinned at the top of the DA forum and thus continually visible. But forum rules regarding pinned topics has changed - thus it kinda gets lost.

Nevertheless I'm glad to see some recent activity here. It means fresh Unforgiven ;)

Cheers

Country: South Africa (where VERY few people have even heard of 40k and even fewer play it)

Time spent in hobby: 3 years

I have only recently joined in the legacy of the Lion. I used to devote everything to Novamarines. I have been looking into the Dark Angels for over a year, but it took me a long time to get over the Unforgiven's penchant for abandoning duties to the wider Imperium in favour of the Hunt, especially since I read Gav Thorpe's Ravenwing. But I have since come to accept that all chapters have their flaws. Nevertheless, I pored over the decision for months because I wanted to make a decision for keeps, in terms of Primarch.

Having made my choice after reading Angels of Caliban I started work on conceptualising my own (Third Founding?) successor: The Angels Defiant.

Name: Ray (Rysaer)

Age: 29

Country/State: Scotland, Caithness, Coldest Most Northern Wasteland in UK

Occupation: HSE Advisor / Electrical Engineer

Time Spent in Hobby: Approx. 14-15 Years

Armies Collected: Dark Angels (Angels of Absolution 4th Company) and Ironjawz (Jaw Smashaz).

Make Your Mark:: Started playing with friends when I started high school, played lots of different armies over the years but have been with the Dark Angels since day one. Noted Deathwing member (Actually got the tattoo on my arm/shoulder to prove it.) and been playing Orcs and Goblins / Orruks for most if not all of my Fantasy/Sigmar career.

Name: Davide

Age: 25ish

Country/State: Italy / Tuscany

Occupation: Medical Physics student / Stagist

Time spent in hobby: I've spent quite all my high school and the previous two years playing with friends without ever painting a single model. I then quit because of the university and change of friends. Last year when AoS came out I started thinking again and then never left. I've started painting a bit as you can see in my signature :smile.:

Armies collected: I once started with the Empire in WHFB then quickly moved to Wood Elves as soon as they were released; that happened on september then on Christmas I went on crusade with the Black Templars and they became my army.

When I started playing again I chose the Dark Angels and Space Wolves 'due to an exchange with a friend, I then continued collecting Dark Angels and painted them. When 30k arrived to my playgroup I then joined the Alpha Legion force but lately I decided to move onto Raven Guard because of the number of players.

Make your mark: I like the hobby more than I spend time on it: I've a lot to build and few built and painted.

Country/State: United Kingdom

Occupation: Dangerous Goods Specialist

Time spent in hobby: 1993-95 then a 24ish year break till january 2018

Armies collected: Dark Angels, Ad Mech, Necrons, Death Guard/Chaos and some dirty necromundan hive gangs

Make your mark: never really got into it that much back in the 90s cos I was young but now I understand stuff a lot better and I have more patience I’m loving the 40k universe oh and blood bowl too

Name: Skorp
Age: 33
Country/State: USA/Michigan
Occupation: Biomedical Engineer
Time spent in hobby: 2.5 years

Armies collected:

40k:
Dark Angels (most built/played/painted, 30% unbuilt, 30% painted)
Tau (have alot, 80% unbuilt)
Sisters of Battle/Inquisition (have alot, 80% unbuilt)
Tyranids (80% unbuilt)
Necrons (just started collecting)
Chaos Daemons (mostly tzeetch, some nurgle, dark vengeance CSM)
Orks (bought for wife, but she lost interest)

Sigmar:
Seraphon (first sigmar army, have most models in the range, 50% unbuilt, 30% painted)
Deathrattle (second most progress, 30% unbuilt, 30% painted)
Slaves to Darkness (95% unbuilt)
Khorne Bloodbound (95% unbuilt)
Sylvaneth (95% unbuilt)

Lord of the Rings:
Mostly Moria stuff (been doing battle companies)

Shadespire:
Starter Box + Deathrattle (all painted)

Make your mark: Walked into the new warhammer store next to our grocery spot and decided it was a good way to learn to paint miniatures to eventually do historical figures. Being a modern gamer nerd it was hard to ignore the rules relevance of models I was painting. I'd consider myself a collector first, painter second, and player third. Although I probably spend more time looking at rules and making lists than I do painting. I look forward to the day I have a majority of my collection painted and displayed in glass cases in my basement.
