Uhric_Duval
I LOVE the conversion on the second chaos lord. Mind if I lovingly rip it off? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/119970-word-bearers/page/3/#findComment-1398724 Share on other sites
kikkala
@Cassarus Thanks, mate. I really appreciate you words. @Uhric_Duval Thanks to you too. I don't mind, so go ahead :P . What I did manage to do today: http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc52/kikkala/wbsl6.jpg My thoughts: Acceptable work with legs, but failure with the helm... C&C gives me funny feeling inside... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/119970-word-bearers/page/3/#findComment-1399501 Share on other sites
Malleus
I'm liking your reds so far, especially on the legs. The head is fine, don't worry about it. Good job yet again! :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/119970-word-bearers/page/3/#findComment-1399528 Share on other sites
kikkala
Only one update tonight, I seem to lose my touch :teehee: . Thanks for your comment Malleus! http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc52/kikkala/wbsl7.jpg Arms painted (mostly) and attached to body. I mentioned that I would add chains to right shoulder... that idea has been forgotten too. After searching tons of shops for little piece of chain, I came to conclusion that there aren't any low-value chain in my home town. And my GS-skill still suck, so no chains. But another great idea struck my head! http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc52/kikkala/wbsl8.jpg If I can assume that Word Bearers symbols is the black demon head with yellow backround... (I'll paint the head tomorrow.) But enough of my ranting, now it's your turn to rant! C&C are very deeply appreciated, thanks. dwarflord1
The shield on book on shoulderpad seems too much. Other than that, it's really cool. The maroon is the perfect Word Bearers shade and is really nicely done. I have to say though, I liked the molten lava look you originally had with the LCs. Brother Renn
Great paint job. My only criticism is the yellow on the shield. It looks a little lumpy and not smooth. Maybe another couple of layers would help smooth it out. Other than that, keep up the good work. c_b_a
looks great so far only the shield is a bit much for the shoulder pad Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/119970-word-bearers/page/3/#findComment-1400754 Share on other sites
kikkala
When I added the shield, I had the opinion that it was just the right size, but after a nights sleep, it just looks too thick. I used Grey Knight shield for it as somehow can notice, cutted it in half, and it's not possible to saw it anymore. So now I'm going to replace it with something not-so thick replacement. Maybe some cutting and trimming of plastic is in place... Oh, dwarflord1, glad that you like the maroon, but you mentioned the lava LC's. Since I'm not giving him a LC, I didn't paint his "fingers" with lava(?) effect, and well, this was a experiement also with gold, so I gave it try :) . So I need your help once again... What kind of alternative shied-replacement for the current one? kikkala
Poll Time! Which do you prefer more? Captain Engelhardt
Well, I have to say, I like the idea, but imo the head is way too big for the little Huron miniature...also he must have an enormous long neck. Have a look at that. You might want to change it, and maybe not ;) Open to you ;) Love the colours, though ! AkiraCho
the paintjob is phenomenal, however the head is disproportional as is the arm/shield shoulder thing/ the other arm is kinda gross looking as well. kikkala
Thanks for comments! @Captain Engelhardt Well you're right about the size of model, Huron does have a tiny head. So I had in my mind that a helmet would "biggerize" him. But you're absolutely right about the neck. I shaved some plastic from the helmet, instead of the neck itself :) . Neck has so many details, it would be a shame to ruin them. I'll post some pics, after I have done some more work with him. @AkiraCho Heh, now I know what needs more improving B) . Thanks for your encouranging words! Updates! Updates! Everyone loves updates! I haven't done with the termie lord in a long time, so I worked with him today. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc52/kikkala/wbcl18.jpg While painting the chaos star, I started to give more respect for those who paint freehands to capes, cloaks, and anything else that folds. One of the hardest things to paint in my honest opinion!! I'll need obviosly to tidy the thing up. Now tell me honest opinions about it. Did I do average job, or does it suck badly? C&C are appreciated, thanks. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/119970-word-bearers/page/3/#findComment-1403477 Share on other sites
kikkala
This time there ain't going to be updates... only a MAJOR update! I proudly present: Lord of Crimson Thunder, <insert a name here>, aka Shorty! http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc52/kikkala/wbcl22.jpg Next is sorceror and his new bling! http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc52/kikkala/wbsl10.jpg Yep, freehandies for everyone! This is going to be my "variant" of Word Bearers symbol, which may have seen earlier with sorceror http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc52/kikkala/wbsymbol.jpg Yes, I practiced painting symbol on a 40mm(?) slot-base. I got no better usage for them  . And there's lot more! http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc52/kikkala/wbts1.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc52/kikkala/wbts2.jpg My infantry based army of course has a squad of Thousand Sons. They were my first miniatures ever. ;) Because Thousand Sons don't have their bodies anymore, what does the armour have inside? Raw chaos-energy? Hell YES! I looks cool, and I helps me practicing light-source technique and keeping my hand steady! Commenting is welcome as always so please, share your thoughts. Thank you. My sorceror (yes, sorceror... not a 2nd lord :D ) is 90% painted. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc52/kikkala/wbsl11.jpg I had forgotten my possessed for 2 weeks now, I'm ashamed, honestly :P . So third possessed is on progress right now. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc52/kikkala/wbpm9.jpg How can I make them better, which part I need to practice more?
