I still have to build and convert 14-21 Chosen(haven't decided how many yet but at least two squads), a few more plague marine squads (made out of plastic CSMs since I have a ton on hand), One more predator, a Defiler(just arrived Today), another Terminator squad, possibly a fleet of Rhinos and finally a Plaguereaper baneblade as the final project for the army. Thucydides
the more Chaos stuff I see, the more I wish i had picked them when I first started out the hobby. The opportunities for conversions are so great and look like a lot of fun to make. Maybe I will have to start a chaos army someday..... really nice work Cadaver Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124279-death-guard-blog/page/3/#findComment-1477888 Share on other sites
Brother Plasticard
Nice job man! I really like the old skool plasma gun (RT right?), and the use of the skaven backpacks! Reaper31
I really like what you have done with these models Cadava. Makes me want to collect my own seperate deathgaurd force!(Bit of a sucker for nurgle lol). My favs are those oblits, the predator and the landraiders tank comander. How did you get the kharne heads for the oblits? from GW online I assume? Or is there an online bitz store that sells metal bits? _Cadaver_
Nice job man! I really like the old skool plasma gun (RT right?) No, it's just a 2nd edition model, not quite as old as Rogue Trader. How did you get the kharne heads for the oblits? from GW online I assume? Or is there an online bitz store that sells metal bits? Yeah, I just bitz ordered them from GW along with a ton of other stuff for other models. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124279-death-guard-blog/page/3/#findComment-1479228 Share on other sites
_Cadaver_
I've been slacking a bit on the updates but I've been working alot on stuff. I finished the second squad of plague marines earlier this week. The only thing I need to do is paint the rims of their bases. One thing you may notice is I changed the color of the skin to have an undead look. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Now I have to go back an update the other squad to match. Group shot: http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard065.jpg Aspiring Champion and some cronies: http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard062.jpg Plasmagunners: http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard063.jpg The guy on the end who couldn't fit in the other photos: http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard064.jpg The other project I've been working on is a fairly extensive kit bash of a defiler and WFHB Giant. I started working on it with just a few basic plans so what you see here is just the very early work of things I knew I wanted to do. The giant's torso as the turret with the battlecannon coming out of his stomach. The cannon has a dragon skull that was taken off a club from the giant sprue. I added chains to replace the leather straps that were part of the bit. I decided that I want to have this guy fully customizable so I ordered some magnets and some extra bits so I will be able to change from an all CC defiler to a shooty one or a mix of both. His hands will be dreadnought CC weapons for the CC layout and the guns will be converted on his arms as well. Since there are two sets of arms in the giant kit this is where I will magnetize him, which I think will look pretty awesome once it's done. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard059.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard060.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard061.jpg C&C welcome as always. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124279-death-guard-blog/page/3/#findComment-1487841 Share on other sites
Brother Plasticard
Since there are two sets of arms in the giant kit this is where I will magnetize him, which I think will look pretty awesome once it's done. I think the whole thing will look pretty awesome once its done! I remember someone else doing one of these on here....but I just can't name them. Although I am wondering about the positioning of giant to the defiler, maybe its too high up? or maybe its not centered? It might as well just be me today, because I had the flu and stuff...its what you get for modeling nurgles chosen :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124279-death-guard-blog/page/3/#findComment-1487870 Share on other sites
_Cadaver_
Yeah, Alith did a defiler similar to this awhile back. I had the idea before I saw his but I definitely give him credit for some of the things I've done/will do with mine. Just seeing his fully constructed was a big help, so if you read this, thanks Alith! The giant's not really centered too well in the photo. I just set him up top and it kept leaning so I just got the best pic I could. In fact, none of the defiler as shown is as it will be. The legs were just snapped in to show the basic design. DoomBringer
I like the models alot; my favorite part is the amount of conversion in them. I agree with the use of dry brushing the greens on. Dry brushing seems to be much more forgiving whilst using non-metallic paints, heheh.... (paints Iron Warriors). Anyway, I would love to vs someone with an army as cool as yours. _Cadaver_
Here's a few pics of the Chosen I've been working on. I still plan to add quite a few more Chosen to the army but I want to get these guys painted before building any more. C&C welcome as always. _Cadaver_
The bits I needed for my defiler conversion finally arrived today. I got a good amount of work done but there's still alot to go. I've put the legs on again to show roughly what it will look like completed but the stance isn't what I'm going for on the finished product. I'm still debating what to use for the base. CDs seem to be the cheapest way but they are slightly too small to fit the whole model on it. I may get some cork tile to extent the size so all the legs fit on the base. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Enough of my rambling, here's the pics. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard031-1.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard032-1.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard033-1.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard034-1.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard035-1.jpg This arm is magnetized and I'll be converting an arm to hold a twin linked autocannon so I can switch between full CC and a little extra dakka. I was thinking about magnetizing the head as well and having one head with a heavy flamer sticking out of the mouth. I still need to play around with the bits and see if I can make it work but I thought it might be pretty cool. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard036-1.jpg Any thoughts on if I should add claws to the dreadnought powerfist fingers? I should have some more progress done by the end of the weekend. C&C welcome as always. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124279-death-guard-blog/page/3/#findComment-1501426 Share on other sites

Kerrigan
Very very nice. I am starting to make my own version. Still thinking and planning. The idea of the combination of a giant and a defiler is too good not to use, and even GW has used this in the coming Deamon Codex (see Warseer rumours, nice pics). I hope to show my stuff in a few weeks. I don't mind if people use my ideas for inspiration, I use theirs! Better a good copy than poorly made up yourself! _Cadaver_
I put claws on the dreadnought CCWs but I didn't like the look all that much so they've since been removed. Here's a pic of what they looked like before any greenstuff was used to smooth them out and blend the lines seamlessly with the fingers. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard037-1.jpg As for the rest of the model, I've finished most of the greenstuff work on the main defiler body but the giant torso still needs a good bit of work to go. I'm working from the back forward so the cannon should be added soon once all the greenstuff on the back is complete. I've also added vents to the back to match those on my tanks. I didn't get very many good pics but I should have some better ones up soon. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard040-1.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard041-1.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q15/lonestarcody/DeathGuard042-1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124279-death-guard-blog/page/3/#findComment-1506984 Share on other sites
Kerrigan
Great greenstuff work! It rocks! Can't wait to see it all assembled. I just read you are planning to base it. Are you sure? It would make gaming, placing your model and such, very difficult. If the base is removable, forget what I just said. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/124279-death-guard-blog/page/3/#findComment-1507009 Share on other sites
