Death Guard Blog

OK, so the Defiler is almost done. The pics have a bit of a blue tint to them for some reason so the colors are slightly off. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with him but I can't decide if I want to paint the exposed spine like bone or mechanical. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a trap. ^_^ Nah, just kidding. I don't play a whole lot since I've been so busy building and painting the stuff but now that I'm getting a substantial army painted I'd be down for a game if you want. I go to both Dragon's Lair and Battle Forge. DL is a bit closer to me but either place is cool. Also, if you don't know there's a great local forum for us Austin players at blacklotusarts.com. Just send me a PM if you want to get a game.

I'd love to, once I get an army together. O.o I work slow, unfortunately, but I'm trying to get my IW's done. I'm spending a lot of time on the lord right now, doing a pretty hefty conversion, but once he's finished, I plan on cranking out the rank-and-file pretty quick.

The Defiler is pretty much finished, just waiting for the water effects on the base to dry before I glue it on the base. I got a few more pictures, the first one is kind of bad but the second one shows the back really well.

I also painted up 2 obliterators today. Nothing special but they're ready for battle(minus a bit of tidying up on the base rim.)

I must say that I am truly inspired by your army!

I have been watching your blog on this army for quite a while and have been loving the conversions that you are doing.

I have some interesting ideas myself and as I intend to do a Lost and the Damned army I have a lot of possibilities for modeling. Two models in particular that I have great ideas (or so I would like to think... lol) for are for a Daemon Prince and a greater Daemon of Nurgle. My prince would be able to fly as well, though I am doing something for the wings that I have never seen done to this point. I want to sculpt it with 2 pairs of insect like wings.

For the Greater Daemon of Nurgle I intend to cheat a bit with the sculpt. Seeing the one that you had sculpted has inspired me to do a standing sculpt as well. That is really cool by the way. For those familiar with the Spawn comic and the incredible figures done by McFarlane toys I want to utilize the demon clown for the base of the sculpt. It fits the subject perfectly... Grotesquley fat, gross in general, lots of sharp pointy teeth in a maniacle grin, the slanted beady eyes... With a bit of work it should work perfectly without too much work!

What do you think?

cadaver sweet defiler. whatd you use for the face mask piece?

WFB Orc Warboss face plate. You can get the individual bit from the warstore. ;)

So, I don't have any photo updates yet, mostly because I want to finish the converting before revealing it, but I've made some significant work on the Plague Reaper Baneblade. I'd say it's around 90% done. I have to have it fully painted by August 21st to get it entered into the Tau Online Super Heavy Competition and I fully intend to do so, especially after not getting my Termies finished for the Elites comp. last month. So the GUO has been put on hold until I finish the baneblade but I've been making some pretty steady work over the past month so I hope to complete around 2-3 units a month until the army is finished. Wish me luck, it's about 6,000 points of stuff in total!

Here's my Plaguereaper, which is pretty much completed. I'm considering selling this model just because I don't really play much Apocalypse. I haven't decided if I'll paint it first or not. Anyway, here it is:
