Big pappa smurf

No. Just no. Not because of the suggestion of RDA as Guilliman (I don't like UM's, but I don't hate them either...), but RDA is a great actor, especially in roles involving sarcasm etc. I just don't see Guilliman that way at all.....

An actor is meant to act, that's what he does for a living. So if Guilliman isn't sarcastic all RDA has to do is to get into the character's persona.

I chose him because of the looks not the way he acts (otherwise most of the suggestions on the topic would be useless as we're all used to see x actor performing x role)

This said I suppose he could also be Dorn just add the right hair colour and done. :P

...I think the problem here is some of us are effete ponces that (believe we) know Mr. Anderson is cardboard where we want oak.

I'm sure he'd be fine for Umerican teens, but not mature members of the Empire... we just have too much prejudice against 80s 45 minute action slot stars.

Note I didn't use the word 'actor'.

FEAR MY PREJUDICE!

Now, with only this bottle of beer and this opener, I shall McGyver myself a drink.

Emperor: Patrick Stewart

Sanguinius: Heath Ledger

Horus: Matthew Fox (The guy from Lost?)

Leman Russ: Jim "The Sandman" Fullington

Malcador The Sigilite: The Guy That Played The Emperor In Return Of The Jedi

Angron: Terry "Rhino" Gerrin or Gerard Butler

Vulkan: Samuel L Jackson or if he's busy Laurence Fishburne

Mortarion: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

Konrad Curze: Brandon Lee

More as I think of them. Obviously this would need tweaking owing to some of my cast coming down with a mild case of death....

You know Heath Ledger is dead right?

And why does EVERYONE suggest Samuel L Jackson or Laurence Fishburne for Vulkan? I don't see either of them fitting him well. To me They seem like a fluffy teddy bear, Where as Vulkan is more a Grizzly thats absurdly friendly.

Agreed. Ving Rhames would be better I think as he just has a gruffness and a proper 'hard man' vibe the other two lack.

A bit late, I know, but I've been thinking of this myself...

Would it be CGI? Or live action?

Let's assume CGI. Voices would be...

I did mention this, what with the "some of my cast coming down with a case of death" comment.

Brad Pitt in no-way has a distinctive or outstanding voice so he wouldn't get anywhere near a list of just a voice cast for a CGI movie. Sean Pertwee I see as more of a Curze voice-wise but he certainly deserves to be on the list.

  • 2 months later...

Ok so I saw someone tag a CGI Magnus voiced by Christopher Lee and it struck me that the height difference between a normal human, and a space marine is pretty significant and the one between a Space Marine and a Primarch is a magnitude of order greater.

Average Male Human Height [english/american study] is 5' 10" but it can vary pretty widely , I.E. I'm 6' 2" and my dad is 5' 8". Space Marines are pretty routinely described as 2 Meters tall, which roughly comes to 6' 8" (maybe 6' 9" I'm real bad at math) But this can ALSO vary widely as a few specific Space Marines are described as being far larger than their brethren. The Luna Wolves joked that Captain Abaddon only deinged to wear his standard issue power armour because his Terminator suit was too small. I like to estimate this as being around 8 - 9'.

Now most descriptions break out into poetics so I couldn't come up with a hard numerical difference but it's pretty strongly implied that Primarchs are damn near twice the height of an average Space Marine. That roughly puts them at 13' 4". if they were to ever do these movies and try to stay true to the implied sizes (and if I'm anywhere near correct) of ALL of their characters (remember all them tiny Remembrancers scurrying about?) theys gonna have to either Avatar this bitch with the CGI bodies and the Motion capture faces, or pull some real crazy prop magic to make it look like everyone is the correct size.

am I the only one who has thought of this?

They seemed to manage this issue ok in LoTR and Harry Potter. Given this is a fictional movie, I'd assume they can afford the same CGI gizmos as Peter Jackson.

Would also only be a problem in scenes with humans and or Primarchs. Just Astartes will be fine.

Collin Farrell - The lion

Jared Leto - Fulgrim

Johny Depp - Mortarion (looked quite good as a boat zombie in pirates of the caribean 3)

Orlando Bloom - Sanginius

Horus - Viggo Mortensen

Russ - Hugh Jackman

Dorn - Russell Crowe

Logar - Joaquin Phoenix

Perturabo - The Rock

Ferrus Manus - Vin Disel

Roboute - Gerard Butler

Alpharius - Jason Statham

Night Haunter - Richard Roxburgh (Guy who played dracula from van helsing)

The Khârn - Jet Li

Vulkan - Tery Crewes

Corax - Christian Bale

Magnus - Ron Perlman

Liam Neeson should be used somewhere. Maybe for Lorgar?

Reckon Hugo Weaving would be a great Fulgrim as well. He could turn from this:

To this:

Ignoring the fact, that some actors are now either dead or to old (Sean Connery now is 81 years old, that's way to old to represent a primarch or the big E) to portrait some of the roles :P

Corax = Adrien Brody

Alpharius/Omegon = Vin Diesel (only if he copies Riddick from Pitch Black)

Angron = Ron Pearlman from Aliens Ressurection

Rogal Dorn = Rutger Hauer from Split Second

Konrad Curze = William Dafoe from Spiderman

Malcador the Sigilit = Ian McKellen

Iacton Qruze = James Coburn from Cross of Iron

Nathaniel Garro - Patrick Steward from Dune

Lucius = Sting from Dune

And no ideas for the other primarchs/marines

I have to make an addition and a change to the above lists... Sorry guys, but this has got to happen.

Lorgar: Gary Busey

Magnus the Red: Jeff Bridges

Just saying.

Oh, Ron Perlman is definitely a good call for a Magnus, Son_of_Dorn!!

  • 1 month later...
was thinking maybe

robert beltran (chakotay from voyager) as lorgar?

avery brookes (capt sisko from DS9) as vulkan (or lorgar?)

any thoughts?

RB as Lorgar: "There's Vulkan's Flagship....we should attack it, but I should consult my Spirit guide first!"

AB as Vulkan: There's Lorgar's Flagship! Attack pattern Omega! Target their engines TechMarine O'Brien!"

(Apologies for those who hate Star trek ^_^ )
