El-Diablo
Well i've been a little lax on the painting (again), I really need to push myself to get things done faster. These 2 terminators for example, took me a good 2 weeks to finish. No idea why though. Im going to make a start on the next 2 tomorrow and leave the sgt until last. Hopefully I can get them done in under 2 weeks. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/El-Diablo/Sword%20Bearers/TERM1.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/El-Diablo/Sword%20Bearers/TERM2.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/El-Diablo/Sword%20Bearers/TERM3.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/131157-sword-bearers/page/8/#findComment-1911381 Share on other sites
Blackjack13
I, sir, adore your work!! Every time I see your stuff it makes me want to crack on and start my own Space Marines (however there is a time and a place when they are set to be started, so I must wait). Again your stuff is awesome, and a true inspiration to me, so thanks. On a kinda similar note: I am intending to include a unit of Deathwatch Veterans within my army to count as a 2nd Sternguard Veteran Squad (they are not currently used in any list, but they could maek a cool modelling project and allow greater tactical flexibility) and was wondering whether you'd be willing to allow me to include a Sword Bearer as one of the members? I'd like to be able to include something n my army to honour your force and all it has inspired. sword brethren
I should have looked at them individually, i just went through all at once and this amount of awesome rivals Mr. T and Chuck Norris in the same room, that sheer amount of awesome was like slap from the screen. keep going for it makes me smile ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/131157-sword-bearers/page/8/#findComment-1911855 Share on other sites
GhostDancer
Hey great to see some new figures on this log. Fantastic conversions, superb painting, keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the terminators. TheReclusiarch
Love the clean paintjob, and the white! Mm, mmm! I especially like the bleached bone on the chest eagles. Why didn't I think of that? Oh well! Nice to see another person with Swords as chapter symbol! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/131157-sword-bearers/page/8/#findComment-1921794 Share on other sites
GumbaFish
These look very smart as usual. I really enjoy these long lasting logs, especially from other painters almost as slow as myself as every couple of weeks they serve to give me a kick in the pants to work on something for my marines again. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/131157-sword-bearers/page/8/#findComment-1923668 Share on other sites
El-Diablo
Thanks for the comments guys, keeps me going on a project like this. ;) Another 2 Terminators down, this time with a magnetized heavy flamer and assault cannon. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/El-Diablo/Sword%20Bearers/TERM4.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/El-Diablo/Sword%20Bearers/TERM5.jpg Sgt next, then i'll take some squad shots and a full army shot. Bogus
Great work Midian! I've really enjoyed following this thread. You say the support keeps you going; you make me want to start a new project. El-Diablo
You say the support keeps you going; you make me want to start a new project. Something red I hope? Now a question - Im having a bit of trouble deciding what to do with the Captain for my marine army but im slowly moving towards a 'counts as' Sicarius. When gaming, what would you rather see? The Sicarius figure painted/converted appropriately, or A generic Captain painted/converted appropriately? Im leaning towards a converted Sicarius so people can't complain that it's not Sicarius (that and it's a awesome figure) but i'd be interested to hear what everyone thinks. wokkers
Option 1. Its an awesome model - and with your skills the cover-up of UM icons shouldn't be too much of an issue. ....the termies look awesome BTW  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/131157-sword-bearers/page/8/#findComment-1924836 Share on other sites
sgt.Krueger
option one, please. Codex Grey
Great army, Midian, great army! I would rather see you use your skills to convert a unique model for your captain, then arm him with a plasma pistol and some sort of fancy sword. Although I wouldn't complain if you used the Sicarius model as a base  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/131157-sword-bearers/page/8/#findComment-1925150 Share on other sites
The_Chaplain
Personally, I would go for a converted sicarius-- simply because the model is so uninspired when it comes to the pose. (the armor itself is nice, but not "oh im a badass im just gonna stand here aspect.) If you can convert a mini with intricate/cool armor then go for the counts as. Lysimachus
although i like a lot of things about the Sicarius mini, i'd have to agree that it's a bit too static. think with your level of skill at this Midian, you could do an awesome and individual Captain of your own (although with PP and fancy PW so you could 'count as' Sicarius) that being said, i'm sure i saw posted somewhere you'd started a Captain mini with the BT marshal body (i think?) and a big PW (maybe the AoBR Captain's?) that one looked very cool! as always, beautiful stuff cheers Lysimachus Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/131157-sword-bearers/page/8/#findComment-1925163 Share on other sites
Captain Kael
Great work man. Thats the best red I have ever seen. The black also look very smooth. ^_^ I say go with option one, as the Sicarius model is awesome and you can make it look really good. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to that terminator sergeant? Then maybe a vanguard squad? :P Captain Kael :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/131157-sword-bearers/page/8/#findComment-1925345 Share on other sites

Its an awesome model - and with your skills the cover-up of UM icons shouldn't be too much of an issue. ....the termies look awesome BTW :P Thanks. Covering the Ultramarine icons shouldn't bee too much of a hassle, but the pose is quite 'closed'. Very much a double edged sword - nice sculpt, crap posing. option one, please. It's a really great model!! thank you for this thread btw it always brightens my day all the best Krueger Cheers Krueger, i'll add count your vote for option 1. ;) Great army, Midian, great army! Your right on the Captain I did before, though I thought it was a little uninspiring when I went to paint it. I'll dig it out for another look though, I might feel differently about it now. Vanguard are a while off yet, I've got a Whirlwind and a Dread next, then I want to get an assault squad and a devestator squad done so i'll be at half a company. PlagueMaster 1988
I would go for the Sicarius option. It might not be really original to convert sicarius (everyone is gonna do it) but hes a sick model and your a good painter so you can pull it off. By the way, my girlfriend is at Winchester University and I visit her alot, so if you ever fancy a game lemme know and I'll bring some models down or something. I have 1500 of Chaos marines and 1500 pts of Imperial Fists (not yet painted, but I have a WIP terminator on the WIP section if you wanna take a look). tagsta
GENERIC! you can pull it off midian! if you go for option 1 then at least do a heavy modification of the sicarius base /edit late question: you said you used MIG pigments for the dirt effect on the raider's tracks... which MIG pigments in particular? Bogus
Do an original conversion instead of Sicarius. It's a great model but I think it'd be much cooler to see what you create. I'll drop you a pm at some point. GENERIC! you can pull it off midian!if you go for option 1 then at least do a heavy modification of the sicarius base /edit late question: you said you used MIG pigments for the dirt effect on the raider's tracks... which MIG pigments in particular? I've got a feeling i'll go for a generic conversion, should have some more movement at least. I completely missed you question, sorry about that. The pigment I used was 'cargo dust', when it was dry I followed it up with a quick drybrush of graveyard earth. Do an original conversion instead of Sicarius. It's a great model but I think it'd be much cooler to see what you create. Looks like its going to be a conversion then! I finally finished the terminator sgt, so that makes the squad. Quite pleased with the NMM on the banner, bit of trial and error but im really happy with how it turned out. I might have to play around with NMM a bit more, im sure i've got some Grey Knights around somewhere that need some attention. Im going to attack a Whirlwind with the airbrush tomorrow, shouldn't take too long now i've got my mixes right. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/El-Diablo/Sword%20Bearers/Uriahfront.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/El-Diablo/Sword%20Bearers/Uriahfrontright.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/El-Diablo/Sword%20Bearers/Uriahfrontleft.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/El-Diablo/Sword%20Bearers/TerminatorSquadUriah.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/131157-sword-bearers/page/8/#findComment-1938741 Share on other sites

El-Diablo
Awsome as always Midian. But its a shame about that writing. I believe you can do it better. Thats the one thing im unhappy with. From everything i've read on doing freehand text, I think im getting everyting right (paint mix, thin paint ect) but the application is letting me down, and it shows. :) Really need to work on that. Red Fury
Great work Midian!! They are really becoming a very nice and cohesive looking army. GumbaFish
I think you might benefit from trying the freehand in a lighter brown like bestial brown and still thin accordingly. At least in my limited experience I find that this looks better than darker shades for lettering.
