You have explained how you painted a lot of your colors, but can you explain how do you paint Yellow please? sugar-free Posted November 26, 2008 Author Share Posted November 26, 2008 Ok Ganeos: this the easiest way i found, play with it and get back to me. anyways; here goes, like i said earlier-use white undercoat when you want a bright color. such as yellows or reds. after your white undercoat is dry ink the armor with yellow. the ink sticks to it perfectly. after that coat drys, put another coat of yellow ink on and let dry. it makes a difference, believe me. then i put a coat of golden yellow. gy is your base coat. then i highlight it with sunburst and then bad moon. with these highlights you can paint them on or drybrush them. you will have to play with it alittle because it is hard to see your highlights if you only put one coat of each. you might have to go over them a couple of time. then for my final highlight i mix bad moon and white together (50/50) and line the tips of my highlighted spots to bring everything out. now to tell you the truth, this not exactly how i did the fire lord. and i'll tell you another truth=i can't really remember how i did his yellow. i think my first or base coat was a mix between golden and desert yellow. i only used a little of the desert to darken up golden. now after i highlighted everything i think i mix yellow ink and a very little bit of black ink to line his armor. and i think i did do a final highlight of white. like i said you would have to play with it all a little to get it the way you like it, but that is the basic way that i do my yellow. Definately cancelled in the US this year. Next year's status is unknown. That's a very nice black over black technique, by the way. Only minor quibble/critique I have is the green purity seals on the assult marine, kinda clashes with the rest of the mini as green doesn't appear in the rest of the pallete. infamousagenda Posted April 25, 2009 Share Posted April 25, 2009 Man I really really like the whole look. I am a little disappointed that Bolter and Chainsword hasnt jumped on this thread more. I mean look at sugar-free's work. His painting style of inking a white model first and then doing selective dry brushing is very unique. Many top painters dont like dry brushing and bash it, but if used like this with some blending I think the work we see here tells a different story. I love the picture in the backround where you can kinda of see the rest of the army. I think if an army like this hits the table it will win best painted time and time again.
