Looking good, I could learn thing or two from you about bionics :). Are you doing 5-man vanguard squad or perhaps full 10-man squad? And your going to dish out all the special equipment on them :D.

This guy caught my attention: how thick are the plasticard tubes? And are they hollow already, or did you drill them yourself, so you could put thinner rod inside?

they arent plasticard tubes, they are actually pices of plastic coated wire that have 1 strand of thicker wire instead of lots of thin ones.

i have a 50m metre roll of the stuff, so if you want some, PM me your address and i will send you a couple of metres :)

i am going to do the full ten man squad, just need a few more parts. they will all be equipped with special weapons. hopefully the squad wont cost more than 400pts or so.

Aha! So that's what they are . Now that I know what it is, I'm pretty sure I can find it from home. Thanks for the offer, but we'll save each others money this way ;).

its called "single strand bell wire" if that helps.

i got the roll for AUD$2 at the local rubbish tip, so really its only the postage that would matter, even then, it wouldnt be much because it wieghs very little (though being so close to christmas you prolly wouldnt recieve it until january anyway).

if you cant find it though, PM me and ill send you some :(

First, awesome work my friend, I love all these conversions, might steal a few if I expand my Steel Wolves.

Where did you get his head, I must know!

Its from the DA Biker Sprue. Hence the puttied DA symbol on the mouth.

Great works G-Relk. Great designs and ideas.

Thanks, I knew there was a reason I wanted to by some DA kits. (other then for the robes and killer swords)

new content!

first up: 6th vanguard vet (minus jump pack)

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x61/g-relk/warhammer/DSCF0167.jpg

the torso is the black templars one with the icon cut off, and two plasticard circles glues over the top, #7 vanguard has the same torso.

and the "sergeant" for the command squad:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x61/g-relk/warhammer/DSCF0168.jpg

i ran out of assualt legs so i had to canibalise the ones on vanguard # 6 from one of my other sergeants, but that wont matter as i have a MUCH cooler model to replace him (the metal techmarine from the older command squad boxed set).

ive also nearly finished vanguard #7, just gotta finish off the bionic legs, giv him a right arm, and put a jumpack on him.

the vanguard squad when finished will have:

3 x marines with thunder hammer and storm shield (1 finished - pending painting)

1 x marine with twin lightning claws (finished - pending painting)

1 x sergeant with relic blade and storm shield (finished - pending painting)

4 x marines with power weapon and plasma pistol (2 1/2 finished - pending painting)

1 x marine with power weapon and storm sheild

im quickly running out of bits to finish this squad, nearly all my chainswords have been converted into power weapons, i dont have any more thunder hammers, i only just had enough storm sheilds, and i think im short a torso front :(

oh well, after these guys are done, plus the dread its rank and file marines, w00t!

as usual comments and crits welcome and encouraged!

Real nice work there mate, but do mine eye deceive me? Are those catachan swords stuck on the chainsword power block things?

Particularly like the terminator captain and use of RW bitz.

Bring your bitz box to warhammer day :HQ:

yes, they are catachan long knives, i wanted those swords to look more like sabres than normal swords to make thema little differant.

RW??

and by "bitz box" you obviously mean "bitz box's", dont you?? ^_^

so, this is hopefully what my 4th dreadnought will look like. the guns are TL auto cannons fyi

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x61/g-relk/warhammer/dreaddraw.jpg

only problem is: i want the hangers for the weapons to be totally symetrical, but for that to happen im going to need A: some bits that look sorta like what i want, and B: are symetrical.

to me the only bit i can think of is the hanger for the ork warbike twin shootas

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x61/g-relk/warhammer/O-BIKE-GUNSw.jpg

the circled one is the one that i think will be the best.

what does everyone else think??

further more, does anyone have spares of those bitz that they want to give to me for nothing?? if you do, then plz PM me. i live in australia fyi

please??

Excellent, I won't do anything further to my dreadnought.

Maybe allan has some of the spare ork bitz?

Mounting should look good, especially with the smiley :turned:

You could always whip out some plasticard magic if all else fails.

Another thing that comes to mind would be to extend the thing that mounts the sponsons on the predator tank, maybe a little flimsy but just brainstorming (uggh).

I didn't like it too much at first, but that catachan sword thing you've got going on is cool.

Keep it up.

  • 3 weeks later...

i have some more pics coming soon of my last dreadnought so far, plus the painted "sergeant" from my command squad. in the mean time i have this to show you: (copypasta from my thread in the homegrown rules: apocalypse dataaxes section link)

*******

to kit my Iron Hands army out for apocalypse games id thought id have a go at making them a fellblade, as they are an (almost) pre-heresy styled army (bar one assualt cannon and a squad of vanguard veterans with current pattern jumppacks and the imperial aquila on their torsos). i checked out the Bell of Lost Souls datafax and thought "this is just a BS 4 baneblade, how lame", so i went in search of any fluff i could find regarding it. i found out its proper armament, so i went about making a proper datafax for it with proper pre-heresy era weapons. this is what i got:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x61/g-relk/fellbladedatasheet.png

so what do you think?? any ideas of points?? and what do you think about the cost for the twin heavy stubber upgrade?? with no idea as to the cost of a normal heavy stubber upgrade (dont have the IG dex) i had to make a guess, so tell me if its ok. i also changed the stats of the main weapons (fellblade cannon and thunderer cannon) a little to represent them being weapons that dated back to the golden age of technology, and thus, are slightly more powerful than the weapons of m41.

the pic is of a mars pattern baneblade i found on forgeworld. the fellblades were built on mars, and besides the entirely exposed tracks and rounded turret, a fellblades looks identical to that mars pattern baneblade.

any ideas for appropriate opions are welcome too :)

any and all help appreciated

charles

*******

im going to make one >:)

not sure whether i will base it off the forgeworld mars/lucious pattern baneblade, or the plastic GW lucious pattern yet, though the GW plastic one is a lot cheaper, and will be easier to work with, the forgeworld baneblades looks more like a fellblade compared to the GW one. either way it wont be on the cards for a while yet, as i want to get the rest of the army finished first. ill edit this post with the new pics asap :D

PICS!!!!!

first up: the three new guys. the guy on the left is a tactical squad sergeant, the other two are guys for my vanguard squad

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x61/g-relk/warhammer/DSCF0170.jpg

next item: the nearly finished dreadnought. used an AoBR dread for this, and im very impressed with t :)

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x61/g-relk/warhammer/DSCF0171.jpg

i also did this with some spares, plus a drop pod deathwind launcher (thanks seb)

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x61/g-relk/warhammer/DSCF0176.jpg

and for something totally differant: something painted!!! this is the "sergeant" for the command squad

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x61/g-relk/warhammer/DSCF0172.jpg

other angles of him:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x61/g-r...er/DSCF0173.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x61/g-r...er/DSCF0174.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x61/g-r...er/DSCF0175.jpg

so, what does everyone think?? ill get some more work done on the dread as soon as i get more bits. same goes for the vanguard vets

comments and critiques welcome as usual :)

EDIT: now with 33.33% less cross-posting action!!!

LOTD marine #1

this guy is just something i kit-bashed together. just waiting on some resin lava bases to come so i can base and paint him.

Dreadnought #4:

as you can guess, this is based off the AoBR dread with new arms and converted sarcophagus. most of the work on this guy was actually in making the mounts for the arms. im still not 100% happy with them, but they are still bvery close to my initial concepts so it s not really that big a deal.

unfortunately i dont have any pics of him before it got painted, but its basically a mash of chaos and loyalist marine parts as well as a chaos warrior torso for the cape, and the flaming sword from the empire wizard kit.

havent done a lot of work to the baneblade to turn it into a fellblade, mainly just put a new end onto the end of the baneblade cannon, lengthen the barrel of the co-axial autocannon, replace the lascannons with autocannons, give it a machine spirit thingy at the front, and remove all the imperial eagles to keep it in with the pre-heresy theme. have got plans to put a large dozer blade on the front, just waiting on parts to arrive. also waiting on some blank armour plates for the sides and another heavy stubber to make a twin linked pintle-mounted heavy stubber. still have to tweak the datafax a bit more to allow for the machie spirit rules (that im yet to put in)

and here is the nearly completed datafax:

so, what does everyone think??

comments and crits welcome and encouraged :P
